So is this actually getting a proper ST release?

According to Film Music Reporter : "A full soundtrack album featuring Jackman’s music for the movie is set to be released on September 28."

Just finished listening to this.

Whoa, what a kick ass score! It's easily better than Debney's Predators (which I listened to again yesterday) and that wasn't exactly no slouch either. There's stuff Jackman does though that even Silvestri didn't do with his own material. The variations on the main predator theme intertwined into action cues was a terrific idea.

I honestly would rate this score highly just because of those cues alone! In fact, this IS the best Predator score, after Silvestri's own. I don't even know if Silvestri himself would have even done better had he worked on this either, so call this a blessing in disguise. Jackman did Silvestri, himself, and everybody proud.

There isn't anything to show online as of yet, otherwise I would have linked to said tracks in my post.

Be sure to check out "Out of the Cage" and "On The Loose" especially.

While watching the duffer of a film, I kinda imagined it would make for a thrill packed listen away from it, as long as it didn't run over an hour long programme.
At least some good came of the film wink

OK, Out Of The Cage is very modern Silvestri, with the Dredd-esque rhythms leading to a sorta cheap-sounding arrangement of ACTUAL Silvestri. Trying to mimic those very, very specific drum sounds was a losing game from the start, you have to admit. Like Giacchino trying to do jungle drums in Fallen Kingdom.

On The Loose sounds like the Alf Clausen TV movie version of the first Predator for a long while, but it has its moments, I guess. Just sounds small, nowhere near as *big* as Silvestri could/would have made it.

Like Giacchino trying to do jungle drums in Fallen Kingdom.

Like Giacchino trying to do anything right in Fallen Kingdom.

I strongly disliked that film, just everything about it, yes Giacchino's incoherent mediocrity included.

They should have called it "Jurassic World: Save the Dinosaurs" and opened the film "With Love to PETA" Smh. roll eyes

Small??!!!! I don't know what are you listening to, but this is probably one of the best scores I've heard in a while, and it's just so enjoyable and very well written. I can't believe this actually features something so forgotten as counterpoint.

It's pretty entertaining and a good reminder that Jackman has chops he frequently doesn't get to utilize. Still, given how much the score sounds like Silvestri, you think they'd have hired the real deal.

I am absolutely having a blast listening to this!! Big themes, nostalgia references, and what sounds like a full orchestra. This is a blast from the 80s/90s, and there's not a single track I've skipped! I have to admit, I dropped off from listening to Jackman since he started doing the Marvel films, but this has renewed my interest in him. Although I haven't heard good things about the film, the score is a resounding success. My cynicism has been temporarily quelled lol big grin

*A good track to check out is "The Last Stand"

The iTunes cover sucks... the HiRes version of the album on Qobuz has the same cover as the EP. Yessss!

I like Fallen Kingdom (the movie was bad), Giacchino did a really good work in the sequel, not same as the first one.

In the other words, i have a blast with The Predator, maybe isn't quite as good as Jumanji (that score have a plenty of references to Silvestri), but really, really fun score.

I like both Fallen Kingdom and Jurassic World better than the original. Spielberg only made JP so he could get his obligatory mainstream blockbuster out of the way and make Schindler's List (the 'personal' movie he actually gave a hoot about) and it kind of shows.

Though obviously, all of these are vastly inferior to Jaws.

I like Jurassic Park III better than all of them. 90 minutes of lean, monster movie fun without all the bloated BS of the other films.
