SMALL SOLDIERS might be a close second to AIR FORCE ONE on this board for most requested Goldsmith "Deluxe" edition. (Just a guess, not supported by empirical evidence).

As long as you're only asking about "on this board", I actually did conduct an informal poll here a couple of years ago about what Varese-controlled Goldsmith titles people wanted most. And in the final results, it was in fact AIR FORCE ONE that was the "close second":

The clear #1 winner: SMALL SOLDIERS, with 29 votes! I think Varese has gotten a loud and clear message about what score people want next.

In solid 2nd place, AIR FORCE ONE with 23 votes. (Some people wanted Randy Newman's rejected score to be included and some people didn't care.)

3rd place surprised me as I find it a fairly generic action effort and I had no idea it was so beloved, but I'm guessing the brevity of the original album is playing a major role in people wanting more: U.S. MARSHALS with 19 votes.

We then have a TIE at 4th place with LEVIATHAN and THE 13TH WARRIOR at 15 votes. (If the latter is released multiple people have expressed interest in Graeme Revell's rejected score being included.)

Right behind them at 5th place we have the first "Classic Jerry" score on the rankings: THE OTHER (14 votes).

The rest of the titles received under 10 votes each, ranked as follows:
8 votes each: PLANET OF THE APES, THE MEPHISTO WALTZ, THE HAUNTING, TIMELINE, and HOLLOW MAN
7 votes each: THE OMEN, THE FINAL CONFLICT, MEDICINE MAN, MATINEE, and L.A. CONFIDENTIAL
6 votes: MOM AND DAD SAVE THE WORLD
5 votes each: OUR MAN FLINT, IN LIKE FLINT, RAGGEDY MAN, RUDY, LIONHEART, and ALONG CAME A SPIDER
4 votes: LOONEY TUNES: BACK IN ACTION
1 vote each: MALICE and ANGIE

Now with the top want being covered, The Omen and The Haunting also being released, and Leviathan recently revealed to not be in Varese's control, I feel it may be time to redo the poll...and this time Love Field deserves some votes!

This could become the best year for the Varese Sarabande CD Club! Just make another batch as prestigeous as this one at the end of the year!

Varese is using Fedex now? Even for orders to Canada? This makes me happy. Faster service!

Confirm. This is the first release that is 100% strictly only what was recorded at those 1989 London sessions with Delerue. The previous 2CD Great Composer Georges Delerue had other cues that were not recorded at the 1989 sessions and the original 3CD's of London Sessions had extra cues that were not recorded at the 1989 sessions.

What about Crimes Of The Heart? That wasn't recorded at the sessions as far as I know.

Apropos of nothing, I sure would a two-disc version of the complete Dolores Claiborne.

I'm voting for the Other by Jerry Goldsmith when it comes time; I didn't realize until this week that score was one of this more avante-garde leaning efforts, which always interests me.

REALLY?!!!

The problem I have with that actual disc is how the Other is presented as a suite. But I'm probably nitpicking.

The suite is SUPER frustrating, especially since some years later Varese released their Jerry Goldsmith at 20th Century Fox box with three cues of the score separated on their own (and in better sound). Escape from the Planet of the Apes is another score that Varese controls because of a "bonus" single track suite made from the score and included with a larger main attraction (their complete Planet of the Apes release) in the 90s...fortunately that one they eventually expanded to its full half hour length...but so far the Twilight Time isolated score track is the only source for more score from The Other (and while "complete" as far as the music appearing in the film, this means that it preserves film edits of the music rather than presenting the full compositions as written/recorded).

Bruce at Kritzerland and Roger at Intrada have long wanted to produce an expanded score release but couldn't because Varese gets the rights in perpetuity even though they only released that single track suite. I can only hope that Varese will one day decide to let the complete score out there...

If you're curious about Mephisto Waltz, here ya go...plenty avant-garde here...makes The Other sound like Somewhere in Time in comparison big grin :

Complete score is on YouTube provided by Universal Music Group.

And here's an awesome behind the scenes video of the Mephisto Waltz scoring sessions!

Judging from what I've heard let's REALLY hope we can get Varese on this, as this is a wonderfully dynamic score. I read the book in the 70s, and am in awe of what I presume to be the childhood magic theme and its orchestration. I do think Varese will get around to this...look at how much they've already got around to lol!

Oh my gosh this is SO terrific! The score sounds great, but to see and hear JG going for it, well, my day is made, thank you!
