I don't know why they were there, but I have read that a flash flood is what trapped them. A diver was transporting oxygen tanks to them so they could dive or swim out but his own tank emptied and he died. I think there was something about the rescuers making a bunch of holes, I presume to check the viability of tunneling to them. Unpredictable heavy rains is hampering the efforts. That's all I've read.

They've been saved.. They shouldn't of entered the cave in the 1st place, its off limits, professionals only, i heard the water needed draining, luckily there was some points to perch until assistant arrived.

There's professional sea-divers with the kids, but they have to make a decision, if the excess water suddenly rockets the kids are novices underwater that part of the cave is compact.
Latest, there flying-in, a special mini submarine there's too much water to drain than 1st predicted, there in safe hands even joking between one another, all looks positive.
Well the rescue has started, they couldn't wait any longer, so it's a mile of twisty, very small caves, mostly under muddy water. I think this is the last thing they wanted to do, but like I said, they don't really have any choice.

Jim, I am not sure why you don't have more information regarding this situation, but it has been all over the media for at least two weeks now. I am not sure how you feel about CNN or any of the media outlets, but CNN has extensive and cumulative coverage that will give you all the background you need. Most certainly it includes up to the minute info, online or on tv. I do know some folks avoid the news and I can understand why.
Please forgive me if I sound preachy lea, but whether they should have gone in there or not is a moot issue at this point. That issue is not even in the realm of what is going through the families' minds at this time. They want their babies back in their arms. Humanity prevails and surmounts everything that preceded the crisis and hopefully this terrible tragedy will have a happy ending. It is looking positive so far and we all need to keep the faith.

Well I haven't heard anything about this story until it was posted here. Looks like a terrifying ordeal and not an easy one to get out of. One question, how did they "find" them? Also it's very heartbreaking if a rescue diver died trying to rescue the boys.
As an interesting side note: the cave has been a popular hangout place. These kids (and others) have been in this cave many times before. It's just that this time there was a monsoon rain and unexpected water masses pushed them back farther and farther into the cave.
Four more kids are apparently now in safety. FIFA has invited all kids (should they be out by then and healthy enough) to watch the World Cup finale live in the stadium in Russia. Since these kids are all soccer fans (and players), that's a nice gesture. As someone has already stated: here is the one soccer team everybody in the world is currently rooting for.
