So is there an expanded "Caretakers,"

Yes, there was, Onya.

In 2008, Varese Sarabande issued (in mono) 25 tracks from The Caretakers.

The Ava LP of The Caretakers, which contained only 11 cues lasting about 24 minutes, was reissued in 2014 by Intrada within their 3-CD "Ava Collection"

And just so that it's entirely clear, the Varese "expanded" CD release contains the original score cues heard in the film, while the Bernstein/Ava CD release contains the complete LP release, a re-recording which (as noted) differs in a number of ways from the actual score cues. Apples and oranges, not an expansion in any real sense.

Thanks. I knew only of the box set release, which I skipped, because I have all of those on LP.

"The Carpetbaggers" was worth getting, because it had film and album versions on the same disc.

Bob DiMucci - thanks for posting that classic advertising art. When was the last time we saw posters featuring those b/w sketches of the stars arrayed together? The 1970's maybe? I love that look.

Here's another poster in the same vein--also from United Artists, also from 1963, perhaps from the same artist:

The artist is Howard Terpning. Heritage Auctions were auctioning off quite a few things from MGM/UA - original poster art. My belief is that an employee was, well, "removing" this stuff and placing it in the auction and that when said person gave them two original Hirschfeld's the jig was up because from that point on they and the other stuff completely disappeared. I bid on this art from The Caretakers because none of these "experts" had a clew who the artist was. Terpning was an amazing movie poster artist - did Birdman of Alcatraz, Sound of Music, Lawrence of Arabia and many others. The original iconic portrait of Astrud Gilberto on her classic album Windy hangs in my living room.

I did win some of the MGM/UA art, though. And I suspect I know exactly who was "removing" it.
