Dunno if this has been included in yer retrospective, Patch, but two years before his truly history-making turn down South in that heated knight, El Sid delivered a solid coup-de-slap to an astonished Shelley Winters in "A Patch of Blue".
my favorite has got to be in gilda, where rita slaps glen 4 or 5 times. apparently she actually knocked a few of his teeth loose! i cringe each time i watch it.

Yes! Slapping transcends the male/female, time/space!
GILDA- Great movie- great cast- an all encompassing SHOWCASE - a tower for a Magnificent Bitch!
Good idea, Steve! My thoughts on the subject of this thread were far more considered here than in the new one, and I was just reminded of some great slaps!
My favorite scene from one of my favorite films (My Name is Nobody, 1973) featuring one of my favorite actors (Terence Hill), giving a whole new meaning to the term "slapstick" comedy.
Two years before MY NAME IS NOBODY, Terence Hill had this slapping scene in TRINITY IS STILL MY NAME. You can jump in at the 1:30 mark.
Yeah, wasn't there also a quite 'hard' fight scene with Paul Newman and a Lady in 'Mackintosh Man' too ?? I don't remember if he slapped her - but he kicked her.
this was because she (jenny runacre) gives him a good kicking when hes down earlier in the film. So he gets his own back.!!
To show he really is THE BAD, There is also a major slapping scene when Angel Eyes visits er... Bill Carson's girlfriend Maria in GBU to extract his whereabouts. This scene is often cut because where they do the join, morricone's music savagely jumps tone.
What about the slap given to the Torin Thatcher's magician character by the chief mutineer in THE SEVENTH VOYAGE OF SINBAD? It looks and sounds as if he's been smacked with a railway sleeper.
