Intrada, Lalaland, Quartet, Varese and Tadlow. If you would have to name Top 7, I can throw in
Music-Box and FSM and that is pretty much the only labels I really own.

I think Kritzerland deserves more mention. Among Bruce's fabulous releases, special attention must go to his Herrmann CDs. Those of us who couldn't get the Varese set are very happy he set about making some of those scores available. They are among the greatest scores ever recorded!

There's more than five? (jk)

My modest collection is dominated by

FSM
LLL
Intrada
Varese

Only two titles each from Kritzerland and Quartet.

What no love for one of the longest running indie labels that have been putting soundtracks out since 1985

SILVA SCREEN RECORDS?

Just by volume of purchase:

Digitmovies
Beat
GDM (though they're gone and I have admit I was disappointed by their costumer support)
Quartet
Universal France (the major source of all French soundtracks -- but unfortunately never complete editions)

They are other great labels, but they simply have a smaller volume of things I'm interested in (at least so far)...

1) FSM --- I will always have a soft spot in my heart for this label. Not only did they do great CDs, but they introduced me to the small "specialty soundtrack label" game/hobby. Plus, they released "The Towering Inferno", "Omega Man" and "THX 1138". smile

2) La La Land

3) Intrada

4) Varese Sarabande

5) Quartet

I criteria would be the labels who have released scores I wanted, some for a long time. The labels are (in no special order, though LLLR and Intrada are the main two):

1. Intrada Records
2. La La Land Records
3. Varese Sarabande (CD Club)
4. Film Score Monthly
5.

And while other labels here and there have released stuff I had wanted, no other single label has done enough to get the empty spot. I suspect Quartet Records will eventually fill that.

I couldn't just answer this question by listing 5 labels and leave it there.
There are so many determining factors that make up the differences between them.

For best sound, I would put La La Land and Kritzerland at the top, as their use of the talents of Mike Matessino and James Nelson make their discs the best sounding to my ears.
Intrada would have posted quite high, but I've been disappointed by some of their recent remixes and remasterings (Dressed To Kill, A Far Off Place, The Rocketeer examples) which have caused me to lose faith somewhat in their execution process.
Quartet and Music Box also deliver pretty solid recordings and are up there quite high.

For packaging, notes and design, it would be La La Land, Intrada and Quartet who would top my list, for their excellent notes and interviews and all round info and packaging.

Varese still release some good titles, although for me it's mainly through the CD Club titles.
Their regular releases seem to be more contractual obligation than labour of love to me now and their gimmicky box sets hold little appeal to me. Also, their tendency to amp the sound 'to the max' can be just as bad as Intrada pulling it way down the other way.

I like the occasional release from Silva Screen and buysoundtrax, but don't purchase as many from them as the above labels.

Overall, I would say my favourite 5 (oops 6) are;
La La Land
Quartet
Intrada/Music Box (tie)
Kritzerland/Varese (tie)

I haven't included FSM as they no longer produce, but when they were on, they were by far one of the best.

Silva is one of my favorites, no doubt, their collections, double disc and box sets are among my favorites. I don't know if I can rank the labels, as they all do great work. I'm grateful to all of them for the wonderful work they've done, in many cases bringing me some albums I never thought would see the light of day.
