I want to like that cue, but because Horner re-used it so much and especially as a motif for Khan, hearing that cue and watching that scene, all I hear is:

KAAHAHAHAAAAANNN!
(silence)
KAAHAHAHAAAAANNN!
(silence)
KAAHAHAHAAAAANNN!

If the used bin theory is anything to go on - I saw a copy of Brainstorm go up recently. Also recently saw Eiger sanction a couple weeks before that. Does that mean anything? Probably not - or maybe something is coming.

Yes. Those early days - albeit for a very brief period - saw really wonderful works flowing from the pen of Horner.

Those "early days" lasted well into the 90's for me.

I'm so ready for an expanded reissue. I recently watched the Blu-Ray of this title and, fortunately, it preserved the variable aspect ratios that Trumbull used. The film holds up surprisingly well. Back when it was released, the paranoia seemed a bit over the top. But today it seems perfectly reasonable! Not unlike how NETWORK seemed rather ridiculous in 1976, but it's what we're living today.

Sadly, the Burroughs-Wellcome R&D center (where the film was largely shot) has been demolished. It was amazing architecture.
