Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

ENDER'S GAME

Music Composed by
Steve Jablonsky
(The Transformers Trilogy, Pain &?Gain, Battleship)

In the near future, a hostile alien race called the Formics have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Hyrum Graff (Harrison Ford) and the International Military are training only the best young minds to find the future Mazer. Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a shy but strategically brilliant boy, is recruited to join the elite. Arriving at Battle School, Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult challenges and simulations, distinguishing himself and winning respect amongst his peers. Ender is soon ordained by Graff as the military's next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command School. Once there, he's trained by Mazer Rackham himself to lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race.

Composer Steve Jablonsky, veteran of the Transformers franchise, creates the all-new musical world of Ender’s Game.

Summit Entertainment will open Ender’s Game?on over 3000 screens on November 1.

I don't dislike Jablonsky, but I'm surprised they didn't break out any of the usual adjectives here. Not epic or apocalyptic or even thrilling?

That said, I'd be thrilled if Jablonsky gets to go Poledouris on us and craft a new musical world for a new science fiction cinematic setting rather than rehashing his usual sci-fi blockbuster sound.

I predict a boy choir/soprano for Ender, the Inception "horn of doom" for the bugs, and the usual electronic beat for the battle scenes.

And for bonus points, he might throw in a wailing woman to accompany Ender's final act.

But in the end, he might just do a Battleship 2: Spaceship.

Facehugger: Might want to put a big ol' SPOILER!!!! warning on your post... you're kinda totally giving away the ending.

While I enjoyed Jablonsky's Your Highness and first Transformers score, his more recent Pain & Gain and Battleship haven't done anything for me. I will probably see how I enjoy the score within the context of the film.

The next big bomb of the year for Harrison Ford I would speculate.
I am sorry but the effects look way to like something out of a home PC or Mac these days.

Edited. Sorry. I thought it was pretty obvious from the trailer what happens to the bugs in the end.

And what are you talking about -- Battleship is awesome! Jablonsky is the one Zimmer pupil that truly inherits the 90's "fun" Zimmer sound.

Can't wait for this score! Jablonsky is on a roll for me. Enjoyed Gangster Squad and can't get enough of Pain and Gain which is so much fun.

I really hope his score isn't in that style for Ender's Game. It doesn't seem like the proper fit at all.

I'm still hoping that he will do something amazing and pull another Steamboy.

I also hope Ender's Game isn't in the style of GS or P&G, and I'm sure it won't be, I was just saying that I enjoy those scores very much independent of Ender's Game.

I could see EG having a Steamboy-ish score. Enderboy? Can't wait to find out.

Chugga-chugga-chugga (BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH)

It's very sad to me when the best critique of a composer or their score that a person can come up with is sound effects/baby talk/gibberish. How articulate! It's even sadder when someone just cuts and pastes this somehow psychically-predicted opinion of a score for the same composers over and over. Learn to express yourself, don't just learn how to press the caps lock key and hold down the H for a very long time.

I could see EG having a Steamboy-ish score. Enderboy? Can't wait to find out.

I hope we get a Steamboy/The Island score. He has yet to top those two IMO.

No surprise, seeing who the baby talk came from.

Some people are just lost cases.

Thanks! Probably one of the best I've made.

Actually I wrote something but then thought better of it - best not to get dragged in to these things. Jablonsky's music speaks for itself.

Incidentally, so does your comment. Haughtiness of the highest order.
