Quartet has announced two upcoming new releases -- a remastering of the LP tracks (practically the entire score) of Richard Rodney Bennett's wonderful, Oscar-nominated score for Sidney Lumet's all-star film of MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS; and a CD pairing two scores by Stanley Black -- the 1965 sci-fi adventure WAR-GODS OF THE DEEP, starring Vincent Price and directed by Jacques Tourneur (Curse of the Demon), and the 1969 thriller CROSSPLOT, starring Roger Moore.

Intrada plans to announce two new score CDs next week.

DeWolfe has apparently cancelled their plans to release Paul Ferris' score for the horror classic Witchfinder General (aka Conqueror Worm). Insert your own appropriate profanity here.

France has announced the nominations for their Cesar Awards, including the category Best Original Music:

CAMILLE REDOUBLE - Gaetan Roussel, Joseph Dahan
FAREWELL, MY QUEEN - Bruno Coulais
IN THE HOUSE - Philippe Rombi
POPULAIRE - Rob, Emmanuel D'Orlando

DID THEY MENTION THE MUSIC?

PARKER - David Buckley

"The script, based on Donald E. Westlake’s 'Flashfire,' is pasted together with perfectly timed coincidences and miraculous recoveries. Nick Nolte, Patti LuPone and Bobby Cannavale are among the actors who wander in occasionally, only to be swiftly forgotten. Nearly every choice, from the cheesy score to the jittery camerawork, suggests minimal ambitions."

Elizabeth Weitzman, New York Daily News
