The latest release from Intrada is the first-ever release of the very first theatrical film score composed by James Horner - THE LADY IN RED, a lively B-movie gangster drama inspired by the life of Polly Hamilton, the woman who was with John Dillinger when he was killed by law enforcement. Pamela Sue Martin plays Polly, Robert Conrad plays Dillinger, and the film was written by two-time Oscar nominee John Sayles and directed by Lewis Teague (Cujo, Alligator).

The latest releases form Music Box are an expanded version of Georges Delerue's score for Philippe DeBroca's comedy-drama KING OF HEARTS, which was a staple of American repertory and arthouse theaters in the 1970s; and the first CD release of the score for the 2018 French period crime drama THE EMPEROR OF PARIS, composed by two-time Oscar nominee Marco Beltrami and his frequent collaborator Marcus Trumpp.

DID THEY MENTION THE MUSIC?

DRIVE-AWAY DOLLS - Carter Burwell

"Coen assembles a pro team including DP Ari Wegner, production designer Yong Ok Lee and longtime composer Carter Burwell, so the movie is a spiffy enough package even if its inspirations are more nominal than discernible onscreen. The filmmakers cite Meyer’s 'Motorpsycho,' Doris Wishman’s 'Bad Girls Go to Hell' and the Robert Aldrich noir 'Kiss Me Deadly,' raising the question of why they didn’t just set 'Drive-Away Dolls' in the 1950s or ‘60s instead of in the runup to Y2K, which pays zero narrative dividends."

David Rooney, The Hollywood Reporter

KNOX GOES AWAY - Alex Heffes

"The audience doesn’t know what’s on the list or whether it’s going to work (Xavier says it’s 'a stupid plan'), but the whole point of 'Knox Goes Away' is following the execution. The movie is a knowing film-noir riff that rarely misses a chance to trot out a noir trope, either in the way it’s shot (shadows everywhere -- even brightly-lit rooms have horizontal blinds casting beams of light) or the way it’s scored (solo pianos, lone trumpets)."

Steve Pond, The Wrap

"'Knox Goes Away' isn’t the first (or fifth) genre effort to play with memory, although it might be the flattest. A far cry from the formally inventive Memento or the twisty-turny Total Recall, Keaton’s film is dramatically inert, its energy undercut by pedestrian visual framing, mundane staging and a wispy Alex Heffes score (mostly notable for its periodic mournful horns) that leaves great stretches of the action weighed down by dead air. Gregory Poirier’s script is neither original in concept nor exciting in execution, with Knox’s monotone quips landing with a thud and the 'timely' jokes of the detectives on his trail -- regarding modern slang like 'IRL' -- inspiring eyerolls. Title cards indicate what week it is in Knox’s path-to-deterioration, and recurring fades to black echo the hitman’s description of his ailment as akin to having a curtain go down on his psyche. Yet from start to finish, the material is crushingly lethargic."

Nick Schager, The Daily Beast

"With its condemned-man storyline (à la 'D.O.A.'), weekly afternoon hook-ups with a flinty Polish escort ('Cold War' star Joanna Kulig) and the occasional bleat of a mournful trumpet on the soundtrack, 'Knox Goes Away' should be noirishly enjoyable hokum. But instead, screenwriter Gregory Poirier’s tribute to an earlier era’s taciturn machismo is more muddled and ludicrous than fleet and clever."

Robert Abele, Los Angeles Times

SNACK SHACK - Keegan DeWitt

"Another effectively grating profanity: 'Sh*t Pig,' the awful pet name that girl-next-door Brooke (Mika Abdalla) calls AJ throughout the film. As with plenty of teen features before, this prickly crush isn’t exactly the sharpest-drawn character -- a shortcoming further accentuated by the annoying fluttery score that creeps in whenever she shares a scene with AJ. But Abdalla and Sherry do strike a winning chemistry, and the actress offers some subtle indicators that Brooke’s ironic detachment masks a more private sadness. 'Snack Shack' largely operates as a slack series of shenanigans, but the budding teen romance offers a spine, as well as an opportunity to get dramatic once Brooke draws the attention of Moose, predictably putting the boys' friendship in jeopardy."

J. Kim Murphy, Variety
