I recently did my semi-annual cd store buying binge. One thing I was looking for was AI, in its original release. "No problem," I thought, "There's ALWAYS plenty of JW in the used bins. I should make sure to look for THE BFG as well." Well, blow me if I didn't find a single danged copy of either. Nor did I see a used copy of Giacchino's Williams impersonation, a shoe-in since everyone probably thinks it's JW who wrote it, and it probably got as big a push as anything JW wrote. What the....???? Time was when JW wrote something gigantic, a gigantic label put it out, a gigantic quantity got pressed, and after a year or so there'd be a bazillion copies in the used bin. No more.

Criswell Predicts.... ... that more than one person will think the thread title is "The DEATH of (John) Williams" and start yammering, yammering, yammering on that topic.

You actually found a record/CD store! Where? Here's the real focus. Pretty much. Gone are the days of record or CD browsing for lost treasures. Admittedly, for me anyway, I bought every John Williams release on day one so apart from older nuggets like HEIDI, I wasn’t particularly expecting to be surprised by what I found. What I do recall is seeing six million knockoff recordings of STAR WARS or equivalent hits made by artists such as “The Hollywood Symphony.”

I haven't bought a CD in a record store for YEARS, and I've really only bought a handful of CDs online in the same period. Do you then mostly stream your music these days?
