As many know, this was better known in uk as Zombie Flesh Eaters , it has a wonderful main theme, but the voodoo ritual drumming is uninspiring. The movie starred the guy from Survivors tv series and has a gruesomely memorable eye-piercing scene that makes everyone cringe and hide behind their fingers.

"Zombie" (as it's known in America) is certainly a famous and legitimately iconic film/score in horror circles. BEAT will probably sell lots of copies of this.

It´s already Beat´s 3rd CD release of this score. The first one was in 1998, the second one in 2011. And now the third, expanded edition in 2021.
But of course you are absolutely right, there are sufficient horror fans for this score and it will sell well again for Beat.

Stefan, you will always have my respect because you tell it like it is which always includes your personal feelings.

I am not really a fan of horror film scores but of course I hope it does sell well for Beat Records. Just wondering Stefan if there are any Alhambra Lavagnino releases on the horizon?

Yes, I really hope so. Unfortunately, the Coronavirus pandemic in Italy has held up things a lot.
During the next few days I will probably know with which score we can continue the series.

Now that's very good news!

Has Africa Sotto I Mari (1953) been rescued? It is a nice lyrical score very much in the style of his documentaries. I am also found of Cortile (1955), Caterina di Russia (1963), Gli Uomini dal Passo Pesante (1965), Ocaso de un Pistolero (1965) and of course Qualcosa Striscia nel Buio (1971).

In the scores known to be lost, I also like very much Il Colosso di Rodi (1961), The Savage Innocents (1960) and Messalina Venere Imperatrice (1960).

No tapes are available for AFRICA SOTTO I MARI and for CATERINA DI RUSSIA.
Yes for CORTILE, GLI UOMINI DAL PASSO PESANTE and QUALCOSA STRISCIA NEL BUIO, although the later one is owned by CAM/Sugar and it could be that it may be released as digital download on their Decca Classics label.
By the way, the main theme for CORTILE is the whistled one which then appeared five years later in the track "Sunday in Rome (Vecchia Trastevere)" of LA GRANDE OLIMPIADE.

I am not sure about MANI DI UN PISTOLERO (OCASO DE UN PISTOLERO) as there are two tapes in the estate with the odd title DUE PISTOLE PER UN VIGLIACCO. However, in Lavagnino´s filmography (or in anyone else´s) there doesn´t exist a film with such a title - so maybe this could indeed be MANI DI UN PISTOLERO (or another western). This can´t be found out before listening to the tapes.

Now the title is definitive and we can start working on the tapes in just a few days. It will be a score which has never been released before in any way. That´s all I can say at the moment.

It certainly is. I am a fan of A.F. Lavagnino and have many of his scores. To think that it will be a premiere makes it even more exciting.

BEAT Records' Holy Grails = comedies & horror movies seen by teenagers during the early 1980s.

I'll take three obscure Italian scores over any three bland forgettable Beltrami scores.

Unfair and really stupid attack. I could say "I'll take three obscure Italian scores over any three bland forgettable Goldsmith or Williams scores"... it also works... but it's still a very stupid statement. What has Beltrami done to you that justify such an attack ?

NP : SCREAM 2 (not a "bland" score...)

Maybe it has something to do with making inane comments which reveal a certain level of ignorance('So just another Piccioni') while having a picture of Avatar on their posts.
