That SAE email has to be an error. It's available for order on Amazon, and I see no alert that they have limited stock. Could be a problem from their end. It hasn't been postponed obviously.

My order from DeepDiscount was also canceled. Seems like distribution was cut waaaaay down for whatever reason.

I just ordered it from Amazon. The order status page says it will arrive on Monday, two days from now. Fingers crossed.

Very simply put: best score of the year so far! A fantastic throwback to his eighties stuff with a killer main title and great variations on it throughout the 85 min, magical and exciting. His best score in a looong time...

Found a copy on EBay for £10.99 - very good film and score. Looking to ward to hearing it on its own!

You guys should read the Amazon reviews for a laugh & why we don't have a larger contingent for this art...and a peek at how ignorant & uneducated our society is....

My fave is "not the music. Just orcastra"
SIC above is how its posted....

Or this genius who uses Mr.in his name, lol:
"The Movie I loved. The music is not the actual songs you hear in the movie. It's all the melodies and backround music."

The bad reviews must have been before the song album arose.

Anyway, Amazon U.S. got it, laugh at the comments & get yours today!

The unwashed can go back to top 40, or "what ever is on Pandora".
Grrrr.....

Last year's Matt Damon film THE GREAT WALL didn't even open in the U.S. until it had played most of the rest of the world, and only pulled in 14% of its $335 million gross in America. But the film was a hit overall, grossing double its budget.

International grosses are complicated. The Great Wall was actually a disaster, it lost $75 million. Here's an article that breaks down the revenue and the losses:

I just received an email from Amazon for RPO two CD set. So clearly it wasn't pulled or discontinued.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079VD4KSC/ref=pe_2602040_279353950_em_sim_6_ti

Maybe there was a delay in stock, or was low in stock because it was selling better than they anticipated.

Here is where I am coming from.
My family (uncles and cousins) have a long history in the motion picture exhibition business.
I have several friends and acquaintances who work in theaters, in various capacities.
When I briefly worked at the United Artists regional office, my job was to report theater grosses for San Francisco houses.

SO, maybe you armchair studio execs care, but unless you have a financial stake in the outcome, DOMESTIC grosses are what is relevant.

Have a nice day?

I have just read the book since many people said it differed from the movie. Well, the movie is vastly superior in my opinion, not only in making it more cinematic (the hero playing "Joust" or "Pacman" of re-enacting "Wargames" would have been quite boring), but also improving on characters and story (the book is Parzival centric to an absurd degree).
Plus the style is terrible, it's like it has been written not only for but also BY a 13 years-old. I now understand why so many people were reluctant toward the making this movie (plus given the fact that the trailers were not too great either), but in the end, it's a great popcorn flick.

As for the score I enjoyed it a lot. Sure, it's not a masterpiece full of unforgettable and memorable moments, but it's a very solid, multi-thematic effort, and the best Silvestri in years. The last minute of "Looking for a truck" is already one of the scorgasmic moment of the year.

Just got my shipping notice from Amazon. looking forward to it. Lots of 1 and 2 star reviews complaining about it being "just the background music" in the Amazon reviews... LOL, here on this board we'd be giving 1 and 2 reviews for it just being a song compilation. But seriously, people can't interpret what "Music by Alan Silvestri" means???

The dopey one-star reviews on online retailers like Amazon, when idiots find out a thing is not a completely different thing that they expected, seems to be a perennial problem. There seems to be a whole category of people who look no further than the title. It's not just the difference between song and score albums that passes them by. it's also the difference between different versions of the same source material.
The CD for Basil Poledouris' 1998 Les Misérables, despite having his name prominently on the front - as well as the names and faces of Liam Neeson, Geoffrey Rush, Uma Thurman and Claire Danes - garnered the following review on Amazon: "* Not what you think... This is the soundtrack to the movie, NOT the musical. Just very slow and depressing orchestral pieces."
[sigh]

I never understood the low ratings for buying the wrong thing. The ratings match their IQ.

Mind you, just as bad is the twerps who can't tell the difference between rating the product and rating the vendor; so a CD gets a five-star rating along with a review that praises how fast it arrived and how well it was packaged.

...or the ones whose five-star rating is accompanied by a review along the lines of "I bought it for my nephew he hasnt got it yet but hes gonna love it" [grrr]

This isn't a bugbear of mine at all.

I wouldn't even give them the satisfaction of that. There are plenty of mentally challenged people out there with low IQs with greater common sense than these neanderthals.
