I received my copy in the mail yesterday and will be diving into the score this weekend. I'm planning on ripping the remastered OST to a different folder than the first two discs. I would like to use the cover of the booklet as the cover art for the OST since it mirrors the the original LP release. La La Land's website has a nice resolution image of the main artwork. Has anyone seen a digital version of the manual yet? If not, I can use the old LP or scan the new manual.

I have not, but I'd like to do the same thing for Disc 3.

To my eye, this is flawless. https://lpcover.wordpress.com/2013/11/09/superman/

I have to say that when I opened the CD case and was greeted with that cover (it's the cover of the booklet) my grin got super big.

Listening now to my copy of SUPERMAN. One observation I've shared with friends who know the score well is that this version has a quality I've never heard in any previous release of the soundtrack: for the first time I'm really hearing the presence of the studio itself and not some artificial ambience added later. This new release is a tad dryer than before but has so much more detail that the natural decay of each instrument gives a dimension to the room itself, if that makes any sense. It's incredibly like standing in the room with the orchestra. These subtle details are the first to go as you move away from the first-generation masters and now they're back. Wonderful to be able to hear literally everything. Huge thank you to MV, Matt, Mike and the whole La La Land team for this incredible gift to us.

Concur. And the power of the 1978 LSO brass ... wow!

Is there (somewhere) a list of the LSO members for Superman, similar to the list of members contained in the Star Wars double-LP?

I think we all owe a great deal to Andre Previn for hooking up John Williams and the London Symphony Orchestra, a match that will live in Pop Movie History forever.

Did not know that!!!!8

Is there going to be a vinyl release of this? Like what was done with E.T.?

My set has just arrived in the UK - No customs fees to pay, whew! (Thank you LLL!). Listening to it right now on a high-end DAC and the sound quality is quite simply astonishing! Mr Matessino, you’ve absolutely knocked it out of the park (yet again!) with this release! It really is like hearing the score for the very first time, and I’ve heard it hundreds of times. Looking firward tomgetting stuck into the liner notes too. I suffer from an illness which results in a LOT of down-time, and music is often my way of escaping from the realities of bad health. John Williams’ music is more often than not what I turn to when I need to mentally escape and be cheered, and his music always makes my spirit soar once again. I wish I could thank him in person for the decades of pure joy his scores have bought me, and some of the rougher periods in my life his music has gotten me through also. His music truly is a part of my soul. Thank you for another stellar release and your great respect for the sonics of Mr Williams’ releases, mastering & preserving them for current and future generations to enjoy. This is a release I shall cherish very deeply. Pure magic! Thank you Sir!

(My dream is a set of the original Star Wars trilogy, each film given its own Superman-style 3 CD release, original poster art etc. Keeping fingers crossed wink )

Super (duper) man arrived today with no customs charges, this sounds amazing absolutely breathtaking.

I've had every version of Superman that's been released and can honestly say, "It's never sounded like this"

Fabulous work by Mike and La La Land to get this released, a dream come true.

Has anyone else ordered the Supe set from Screen Archives Entertainment? I have had an account with them for years, placing quite a few orders with them, with no prior issues, but my order status (which I placed day one) is STILL "PENDING".
I emailed them the other day, asking when they plan on shipping, but never received a reply.
If SAE is seeing this post, please let us know what the story is with our orders. There's folks in the UK that have received theirs, which I gather is from La-La Land directly.
Thanks.

and why not try to be patient and wait for their answer before claiming on a forum?

It's difficult, I now... smile

I AM patient, which is NOT difficult, and I do not see my post as unreasonable. It is a matter of being understandably curious as to the status of their shipping. As I have said, I have ordered from them many times.
SAE states on their site that they expect to ship at the end of February.
I don't think SAE or any other business will be offended by my inquiry. I am not accusing anyone of anything.
Nothing "difficult" about that. smile

Take it from someone who orders from SAE quite regularly, if you want La-La Land new releases fast, order direct from La-La. SAE generally doesn't receive their stock until 3-5 days after La-La starts shipping. Then add another day or two for processing. Granted I'm in CA, but I got mine within two days after they started shipping.

Understood. Really the main thing was just asking if anyone else who ordered from them got their order by chance. Quite happy with SAE for my history with them as a customer.
Perhaps I'm just itching to put on these CDs to hear my very favorite film score of my very favorite film! smile
