pad the film with human melodrama.

People keep saying this like the Toho films weren't 20 minutes of monsters surrounded by an hour of chatter between human scientists/reporters/aliens wearing silver jumpsuits and sunglasses.

Hahaha! Beautifully argued, Sir.

Hahaha! You all got me didn't you? roll eyes

I'm not comparing this to old Godzilla films which had limited budgets and technology. I want to see monster on monster action, not boring subtext breaking up the action. They got the budget and technology to do it right. You all act like this is such a novel idea. Like why didn't we cut away from the action in Star Wars, or Aliens, or Terminator, or Raiders, or pick any flic that does action well for secondary characters doing boring things!

It's clear they don't have the budget to do this genre justice. All the best shots are in the trailers. They basically put millions into choice "money shots" to sell the movie then pad the film with human melodrama.

What now? They got it or they didn't? I don't get it *shrugs*

BUT I got a great GODZILLA movie big grin

To paraphrase Captain Marvel (or whoever that character is in the MCU), this isn't all about you. Self-centered much?

I quite enjoyed KOTM, I'll buy it on Blu-ray. Btw, MOTHRA is coming out on Blu-ray next month in a steelbook, I'll pick that up too.

Love that first design. Why didn’t they use that for the British poster instead of that boring one we got! You’ve got to laugh that for all the comments about this film being so ‘nothing’ this thread is running and running :-)

The second one was used for IMAX posters.

and suddenly the CD is marked as another of those lame CD-Rs... at least in the US...
has anyone actually got the CD and can confirm if it is pressed or not?

The copy I ordered and received from Amazon US is pressed, not a CD-R.

I got mine from Amazon and it is a CD-R. And it didn't say that when I ordered it but I now see that it does.

Well, that's great. I didn't notice this was a CR-R until after ordering it. I was going to let it slide and just deal with it, thinking that the quality would be the same. Now, a recent review on Amazon talks about poor audio, poorly printed materials, and, worst of all, the tracks lumped together into one file.

Looks like I'll be returning this as soon as it arrives

I ripped my copy into iTunes but I haven't listened to it yet. I can tell you, it's NOT all one track lumped together.

Visually impressive, but a narrative wash. And other than the effective use of Ifukube and Koseki in brief sequences (Mothra's transformation particularly), McCreary doesn't bring anything noteworthy to the table, instead over-scoring it noisily like it was just another run-of-the-mill Hollywood action film.

And then I watched Shin Godzilla last night … and while it's kinda clunky and cheap looking, the performances vary from stilted to awful, and the score is a needledrop clusterfuck, the narrative, which surprisingly didn't lean on cheap sentiment, is actually quite persuasive.

Enjoy it while you can, the Monster Universe is dead. GvK will be the last in the series, and only because it's done already.

You're actually quoting CM? Ugh. I guess half of the audience from the last film are self centered too, because they didn't bother to check this one out. I wonder why?

Don't need no Monsterverse going - Godzilla will be around no matter what Legendary will or will not do. Toho won't drop the big guy and if (and that's a big IF) no new one will ever come out - I will just enjoy every existing one as I did before (like in the ten year gap between 2004 Final Wars and 2014 Godzilla). LONG LIVE THE KING!
