with a special nod to 1958, the year of DADDY-O (1958).
Is that available?
No. The film is available on a crummy, dubious DVD, but the soundtrack is not. You can hear the Elmer Bernstein-inspired opening cue here, though (my rip):
DADDY-O is cute, but surely if you want to recommend Williams' crime jazz of the late 50s and early 60s, there are plenty of other things to recommend that actually have am album release.
Also be sure to catch Johnny Williams via his two cameo appearances in the magnificent 1959-60 detective series, JOHNNY STACCATO.
The Hateful 8 just ain't the name of a crappy Tarantino film, its the new name us here at La La Land have given to those 8 folks on our FSM ignore list that we feel contribute nothing but negativity to this board. Our lives have been happier since not having to read their posts.
Checking out your preferences in your profile I would think CINDERELLA LIBERTY, maybe THE EIGER SANCTION and then possibly THE LONG GOODBYE would be up your alley.
EDIT: i have the Land of the Giants disc. I will listen again.
I don't know why Onya keeps harpin' on about Lost in Space. To me, LIS music is worst of the 4 Irwin Allen series. The music from both Land of the Giants & Time Tunnel is better than LIS, and the music from Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea is best ever attached to an Irwin Allen production.

What do you expect from label that releases Zimmer's 1989 Black Rain instead of Takemitsu's 1989 Black Rain?

Part of it is that I watched "Lost in Space" incessantly as a kid. That and Dark Shadows were my gateways into film music. When I bought the recent box set, I was surprised at how much of the previously unreleased music I recognized, even though I had not seen the show since I was a kid.

surely you jest. LIS Season One walks on water. Besides, I like harps.
Someone mentioned the SUPERMAN Box artwork was a big incentive to his purchase. You could say that about LLL's box sets, in spades. The art design is amazing.

I think Cinderella Liberty has a harmonica.
Yeah, there's a lot of harmonica in it -- mostly the main themes.

I think Cinderella Liberty has a harmonica.
This rather gnomic comment makes me realise that, although the harmonica isn't my favourite instrument, three of my favourite scores by three of my favourite film composers features it heavily: Once...West, Midnight Cowboy and Cinderella Liberty.
And whilst I'm in a contrary mood, I don't think that Earthquake sounds like anything but what it is, a mid-1970s John Williams disaster movie theme. And almost as unlike a 1970s Morricone score as a Beethoven symphony!
If in the right hands (like Toots Thielemans, Tommy Morgan or Sigmund Groven), I can dig harmonicas. In fact, my alltime favourite movie theme features a harmonica -- "Reodor's Ballad" from PINCHCLIFFE GRAND PRIX. I used to play one as a kid!
