Well, they've discounted it $4 from their usual $20 single CD price. If we can't get a second score, that's about the best one can hope for.

Complete agreement here. I've paid the higher price point for earlier Intrada single-LP releases (infrequent though they may be), so I'm definitely happy to now pay less.

I'd prefer to charge $19.99 so if people are more comfortable with one of our usual price points, I'm happy to raise the price! Let me know.

I for one was impressed by the generous price point on this one and I'm glad Intrada did it! I will be more likely to pick up the score now.

Some curiosities regarding this recording:

The front cover says "song "LIVIN' ALONE" Music by Andre Previn Lyrics by Dory Previn"
But the track "Livin' Alone" (#4) on the recording is an instrumental, and the vocal recording (if one was made) does not appear. Although the back cover of the CD doesn't indicate the composer of the track to be anyone other than Johnny Mandel, the LP credits the track to "Andre & Dory Previn."

The back cover of the CD doesn't say it, but track #2, "Quietly There," is a vocal, with lyrics by Morgan Ames, sung by jazz singer Ruth Price. Morgan Ames is a woman, by the way. Among her many credits: She co-wrote "Baretta's Theme" ("Keep Your Eye on the Sparrow") with Dave Grusin.

The back cover of the CD doesn't say it, but track #7, "Sure As You're Born," is also a vocal--of the main title theme--with lyrics by Marilyn & Alan Bergman, sung by Sam Fletcher. Fletcher, whose career peaked in the mid-1960s, was called " The Man With The Golden Voice". His biggest fans included some of history's greatest vocalists--Nat King Cole, Aretha Franklin and Nancy Wilson--to name a few.

Cripes! Is that really a one time sound from planet earth? It sounds so unreasonably musically civilised in the face of all the crap out there right now.

Who dubbed for Julie Harris' vocal of "Livin' Alone" in the film?

According to the IMDB and the AFI, Harris sang the song herself.

Thanks Bob! This role was certainly a departure for Julie Harris.

"This is Harper's gun" ... see how it shot outta Intrada's danger zone and catalogue?

Nice to always keep the quantities a big, dark secret. Was this 500? That would be the only quantity that would make sense as a sell out. Meanwhile, easily available elsewhere.

It was the now-standard "available while quantities and interest remain".

Apparently, neither one remains.

Well I dunno anything about record companies, but do they press the whole amount at the start? I'm thinking that if sales have dwindled to almost nothing, then it's not worth repressing, even if they have another 1000 copies they could produce. As Hainshisway said, it's available elsewhere, & anyone who hasn't bought it yet is obviously not interested. I think it's a neat little album & it goes well with the Warner Archive Blu-ray of the film, all very sixties.

Not sure about "mainstream" labels, but MV has stated on multiple occasions that La-La Land's titles are pressed in batches--and I believe there have been a few over the years (honestly, the titles escape me right now) that haven't seen their small final batches done because sales dried up and pressing them would actually result in a loss. The titles like "Rocketeer" and "Jaws 2" that are listed as Temporarily Out of Stock are the ones awaiting their next round of pressing.

Now, as for "Harper", there are still a few copies left on Intrada's Amazon store along with a few other titles no longer on Intrada's site including "Twilight Zone 1985", "Sky High", "Honey I Blew Up the Kid", etc. I imagine they're the absolute final copies.

Here's a link to their store:

Well, sure. It's interesting to people how many copies of things are actually selling these days. There's no shame in it if it's 500 or whatever. It's a different world than it was six years ago.

So it's more of a curiosity thing. At the start we don't know how many we're going to ultimately press because of our "interest remains" policy. But at the end of course we do. I will say on this title we sold 1000 units.

Impressive! Any more Mainstream CDs in the works, Roger? Those you’ve been releasing have been such a sound improvement over the previous CDs not taken from 1st generation album masters.

Yes, simply curiosity. I'm surprised it sold 1000, frankly, and that's great.

Honestly....I'm surprised, too.
