When I started this rescore, my original plan was to compile the music into one 80 minute OST but now I'm not even halfway in and the unfinished OST playlist already exceeded the 40 minutes... so I decided to go the Disney+ way and split the OST into three volumes.

A lot of the tracks here are combined cues shuffled around to create some flow. The episode order stays chronological though.

Tracklist Volume 1:

"Welcome To The Hellmouth" (13:55)
01. Opening (2:25)
02. Buffy's Theme (2:47)
03. The Master Returns (1:54)
04. Meeting Angel (2:03)
05. Hell Itself Will Come To Town (4:46)

"The Harvest" (14:25)
06. My Blood Is Your Blood (2:44)
07. Hellmouth (1:55)
08. Escape (3:36)
09. The Harvest (6:10)

"Witch" (9:17)
10. Something Wicked This Way Comes (2:30)
11. Fire Burn And Cauldron Bubble (2:11)
12. Bodyswitch (1:38)
13. Defeating The Witch (2:58)

"Teacher' Pet" (6:18)
14. The New Teacher (2:00)
15. Visiting Natalie French (1:16)
16. There's A Bug In My Basement (3:02)
Total Time: 43:55

I tried it but with only having Stereo files to work with makes the removal of Murphy's score kinda hard... I'm curious too..

You could find the versions with 5.1 audio. For this show the vocals and score is really nicely separated and its also a great way to rip the score without dialogue! I know it doesnt always go well, but the mix for this remaster is really good so I have made myself TONS of additional score from this show. About 8 hours per season! lol!
Some fighting sfx here and there at times, but no dialogue.

I searched for the Remastered Edition on physical but couldn't find anything... Do you have a link from where you got it?

Already discovered the unreleased Buffy scores channel a while ago becaus I really wanted to have the "Dawn's Kleptomania" and "It's All About Power" cues from S6&7. That also explains why there aren't such edits for Angel's score.

The "It's About Power" cue is so...well, powerful! Love it!
Really wish they included some of Romayne's work as well in the LLL box!

Here are two edits I did with the stereo DVDs a month ago. Murphy's score is still audible here and there and I had to redo some of the background-noise but it kinda works if you don't listen too closely...

Welcome To The Hellmouth: Cue 1M01 & NH's Main Theme:
YT deleted

The Harvest: Cue 2M10V2:
YT deleted

Rescore for "The Pack" is nearly done, only 3 cues (including a 5-minute showdown cue) still need to be written. Should be finished soon.

01.04.2023 Edit:
Here the re-ups:

Wow! Really good job! Specially that second one. Feels much powerful and effective than the original!

Thank you, Acathla. The first Season has sadly only very few scenes where the score can really burst out and that is one of those because they're the most fun to score big grin

I spotted 1x04, 05 & 06 all in one day and "The Pack" was just finished before "Never Kill A Boy...". That one is coming next. The rescore for "The Pack" - like Murphy's original - features primarely african based percussion but a bit extended with a theme and a motif. And this is the first score to include a real, not sampled instrument: It's the ocarina played by myself.

Episode 1x05 "Never Kill A Boy On The First Date"
After three episodes with very different Villains and therefore diffent type of Instruments, this one goes back to the same Instruments I used for the Pilot two-parter. Metallic Percussion! And Trumpets. There's still a bit "unique" stuff in here: A lot of the cues revolve around the number 5 because of that Prophecy thing by the Master. Borba has kind of a theme and a military-snare drum. But not really. With "Teacher's Pet" is this one with only 15 Minutes the shortest score of the Season and we spent not even closely as much time on Borba than with Natalie.

I always try to make the transitions between the Songs in the Bronze and the underscore work by making the cues in the same key and similar tempo. There is a lot of back and forth in "Witch" with the Twilight Zone Remix playing during the Cheerleading sequences and here we have the song "Treason" by Velvet Chain starting directly after 5M08. For the transitions sake I include from now on the Songs because they are also a part of the musical narrative.

So... "The Pack" is already done. Meaning now comes the good stuff. So the next episode I rescore is of cause the all time fan-favorit "I, Robot... You, Jane". No joke. I did the spotting of the remaining 6 Episodes over the last few days and I don't want to rescore two bad Episodes in a row... So this is the order:
1x08: "I, Robot... You, Jane"
1x07: "Angel"
1x10: "Nightmares"
1x09: "The Puppet Show"
1x11: "Out Of Mind, Out Of Sight"
1x12: "Prophecy Girl"

I haven't seen the show in a long time and don't remember the music, but what you've done definitely fits the vibe of the show! It's very fun and playful as was the show, even with its moments of terror. Great work! It would be awesome if the existing music tracks could be removed and you could add yours with the clean dialogue and sounds.

You're Welcome.
About removing Murphy's original Score... I just don't find the 5.1 Mixes that are needed to make the edits with my score properly. They are out there... somewhere... but I just don't find them... I would do those edits in a heartbeat...

Obviously a rescoring project is not an official process so we couldn't expect studios to release tracks for that, but it really would be a lot of fun. I recently saw a video where someone edited Holst into scenes from "Star Wars" and it was a really cool concept and would have been better with some more refined editing but also of course having the dialogue and effects in place.

I might look into that!

As of my understanding the 5.1 Mixes are made for the Buffy HD-Remaster which is only available on Streaming. And from what I heard (I think there was a discussion of this topic in the previous pages of this thread) the original score is nicely seperated from everything else. The pirated versions I found only had Stereo audio. I did selected cues with the Stereo files but the results are not that great and I had to recreate a lot of the sfx.

Just finished the final showdown cue from Episode 7 "Angel". This cue is (among a few others) the reason I started the rescore. It's the scene where Angel tells from his curse, it's the begin of Angels redemption and the death of Darla. I may change some minor things as I make the rest of the score (I always start with the finale cue).
There's some Buffy Season 2 Christophe Beck in here. A bit of Rob Kral. And I recreated another unreleased Angel Season 1 cue also by Beck

Good job! I loved the use of Darla and Angel themes!

The Darla theme is one of my favorites! So mysterious and sad at the same time.

Those two themes are my favorite from Angel (so far, still two seasons to go). Sadly the Angel theme didn't survive the Composer change in S2. Would've loved to hear more from it.
