So the WB Archives release that includes the TV Cut (and Donner's 2000 Cut) PLUS the Blu Ray Anthology Box PLUS the 4k Release gives you everything. I have no idea why I find this so confusing. It's plain as day. As far as Superman 1978 is concerned (in order of release): Blu-Ray Anthology 1978 — 2006 contains: Donner's 2000 cut Theatrical cut (defaults to 2000 5.1 remix, but contains Dolby Surround version of theatrical mix) Additional special features and documentaries on disc 8 WB Archive Release contains: TV Cut (mono sound) Donner's 2000 cut (same disc as in Anthology) 4K Release 4K UHD HDR disc of theatrical cut with 5.1 presentation of original 70mm split-surround mix Theatrical cut (same disc as in Anthology) So if you're just looking for the different versions of the movie itself, you're fine with the WB Archive and the 4K — between them, you'll have all three. If you want all of the special features (not to mention the other movies), you will need to get the Anthology.

Think outside of the (Blue) box. "Superman: The Movie" is one of the all-time great scores, and should be readily available for purchase like the Star Wars and Indiana Jones scores have been over the past ten years. Yes, SUPERMAN is the heavy-weight champion of the Blue Box, and should be available on its own. And I'm sure it will, the Blue Box is likely to remain a singular event in the history of Superman film music. :-) Having said that, the Blue Box is fantastic, it is filled to the brim not just with John Wiliams' original soundtrack to the 1978 movie in better sound than any previous release, but it contains both the sequel scores and the animated scores by Ron Jones, all of which is terrific music. So I'm happy with my Blue Box set, and for all probabilities, that was my final purchase of the Superman score. But I'm sure the score for the first one will be available (from LaLaLand) in the not too distant future.

So different from the three original SW and Indys and the two shark films that I cannot remember the names to. Was one of them Action Comics #456? Did this issue come out after JAWS? I thought the ACTION COMICS masthead was long gone by then.

February 1976 is the "remove this from the newsstands by" date, not the actual date of publication, which is usually three months earlier than the cover date. Thanks. I saved the image, and some meta-tag info is always desirable.

Jim- La-La-Land just announced it-they are doing a deluxe 3-CD "Superman" next year. Yes, the video was posted here, as well, and I have since added my happiness on that subject. Thanks for thinking of me (even if you didn't)! I did, I did.

Although I bought the Blue Box, I might not be able to resist getting this. Cheers

I'll be happy however LLL do it, but my favoured format will be the score as Williams composed and recorded it first, then the album versions, concert versions and edited-for-the-film versions as the extras. Rather than the edited-for-the-film versions first and as-recorded versions as extras.
