OK, I might end up regretting asking this but what the heck...

What exactly is wrong with that post? Sounds like a honest, non-confrontational answer to the original question to me.

Thor was warned, by name, by both the board moderator and the owner of the forum/website/label years ago that his repeated passive-aggressive trolling of threads about expanded albums were not welcome here under penalty of banning.

Why we can get rid of Marcato or Bruce Marshall for doing the same thing but not Thor is a continuing mystery.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled topic

Since the sound quality issue has been brought up -- is the sound quality on the expanded version different from what's on the original CD? Is this new version no longer 'spacey'?

The film soundtrack presentation has a wider dynamic range than the soundtrack album, and may sound quieter, but the sound is full and beautiful and the louder parts are quite loud.

And the soundtrack album is the soundtrack album, not very different than the original CD.

I would buy!

It's still worth buying. But if they happened to release a version that balances out the volume levels, I'd probably buy that version in a heartbeat.

You are asking for a compressed dynamic range, and Intrada doesn't use compression.

You can wait for a La-La Land release, I am pretty sure they will use both compression and louder mastering, as they often do.

You can also try to own a more balanced sound system and won't have so much problems with dynamics anymore (I had the same problems you describe with an older sound system).

Yeah, I'm not concerned with it enough to splurge on a brand new sound system when that's one of maybe two or three albums that I feel are affected by it.

I have at least 20 Intrada releases, and The Rocketeer is the only one I can think of that is like this. So...not really sure why that is.

Regardless, I'm hopeful that they repress it for those who missed out on it.

To give THOR credit. The worst he ever says is. "I'm satisfied with my original album and Expansions are unnnessary." In a forum where he is in the minority and the market DEPENDS on the majority interest in expanded editions. I get that he values the music as the composer intended and as an aesthetic all on it own.

Yeah, it annoys me too, but I met the guy and don't think he intends to troll. If he does, well...

Compared to others he never attacked anyone or played mindgames at best or at worst went out of their way to start fights.

I'm listening to the samples on Intrada's website now and it seems perfectly fine to my ears. It sounds exactly as it should - the quiet bits are quiet and the loud bits are loud, individual instruments have wonderful clarity and the soundstage is open and expansive. It sounds like a real orchestra should when properly recorded without unnatural processing added.

Put me down for a copy Roger and Doug! Along with Who Framed Roger Rabbit!

There's a better soundstage with more depth on the film soundtrack presentation, indeed. The soundtrack album presention is good, but since it uses some compression, the orchestra (and the soundstage) isn't as well balanced.

I'm glad to have both, though.

He was told not to and has continued to. If he has impulse control problems, that’s not our problem and he should be ousted. Or he’s trolling on purpose and should be ousted.

As to him starting fights, he said he’d like to murder Trekkies on the non-filmscore side of the board.

So, no, your entire post is wrong I’m afraid.

I agree with Nono and JTWfan77. The sound of the new Intrada ROCKETEER sounds amazing! ...definitely in the demonstration class. I like hearing the full dynamic range of an orchestra and the Intrada release fits the bill perfectly.

I know there's the PR on Intrada's The Rocketeer which is often bumped asking whether the release will be repressed (thus giving hope to people that it has been repressed). Anyway, here is a dedicated thread, which hopefully will garner enough interest that will hopefully lead to a repressing at some stage.

Definitely interested!

As Roger has contributed to the Intrada please thread. I hope he might take a look at this one.

Call me crazy but I really don't think that Intrada's lack of awareness of interest in repressing this title is the issue here.

Well, if it's not coming out again why don't they just put up the "SOLD OUT/OOP" label on it's store page?

Because that's probably not the case either. Besides Intrada doesn't mark titles OOP anymore, they remove the product page.

Count me in for a purchase as well. I missed the first pressing.

Copies can be found, but you have to keep an eye out for them. Watch for them on Music Box Records, eBay, and Discogs. Ark Square currently has one listed for $33.50

Not really, no. I have the original CD from way back in the 90s, and that's all I need. But if it's getting hard to come by these days, by all means -- repress it for those who didn't get it then.

You were expressly told by Lukas not to make posts like this.

Reported.

Get it? Repressing the CD and Thor. wink
