I'm really hoping it happens one day! Such a beautiful score. I'd take a professional needledrop of the LP at this point if the score masters are gone.
SLAPSTCK OF ANOTHER KIND by Morton Stevens & Michel Legrand.
I’ve had the 1984 Varese LP since 1984 and I would just love to to see this one get the expanded treatment on CD:-)
Sadly the owner of the rights is not keen on licensing it for less than some crazy advance that makes no financial sense for a label. Trust me, we tried.
MANIAC COP - Jay Chattaway PRINCE OF THE CITY - Paul Chihara
Did these seriously not get a release yet? Criminal.
Prince of the City - Warner Bros wants a lot of money for it. The money equivalent for sales would mean a label would have to sell 1500-2000 of this in an age where most score albums come nowhere near that sales total. I really wanted to do it as I love Paul's music.
MANIAC COP - Jay Chattaway PRINCE OF THE CITY - Paul Chihara DEAD HEAT - Ernest Troost BIGGLES - Stanislas Syrewicz GANDHI - George Fenton / Ravi Shankar SWAMP THING - Harry Manfredini INSEMINOID - John Scott SILENT MOVIE - John Morris
I mentioned the whys on Prince...
Gandhi - I believe this is one of those we tried to license from Sony Pictures but there was some legal snag that prevented it from happening.
Swamp Thing - the guys (one was open to doing it while the other guy thought music soundtrack deals are a waste of time for the money involved) who own the rights (Not Warner) to all things related to this movie wanted 5 figures for this. Then we discovered there are some serious rights issues that make this a no go even if we did want to shell out 5 figures. Chalk this up to never happening as long as rights are tied up in this complicated mix of owners.
Inseminoid is an issue of the film company going out of business and the new owners not caring about doing soundtrack deals
Silent Movie may be owned by Mel Brooks' Brooksfilms so maybe there is a deal to be made there.

I’m really sorry to hear this.
I’m hoping that in the future that the rights owner might have a change of heart and be able to work a deal.
Yes, a complete score release of Outlaw Jose Wales, which included alternates, was released by SAE on a CD promo/private pressing, but the superb OST LP presentation, issued in 1976, has never been available on CD. I should have delineated that in my initial post.
Although I do have a good sounding CD boot, JENATSCH by Pino Donaggio has never had a legitimate release of the LP. There are quite a few more Donaggio titles that have LPs but no subsequent CD upgrade or expansion (Over The Brooklyn Bridge, Indio, Hotel Colonial).
