I would include OUTLAND here as well. It might not have as much action music as the others but I feel like "Hot Water" earns it a place on the list by itself. The entire score is amazing, but "Hot Water" is indeed a career high point. Mr. Goldsmith very skillfully ratchets up the suspense to a near unbearable point.

Ha, enjoy it fans. This is the kind of Goldsmith that does nothing for me. I have to admit that I mostly like the sixties stuff. Same here. And here.

I must have first rented the VHS back when I was like 8 or 9. I remember thinking how cool the opening scene was with the airport arrivals intercut with their “deceased” military profiles (I used to love collecting GI Joes and it reminded me of a live action Joe film) . I love how the music hits those shots. It has that same hard-edged sound from the Rambo scores. Like the main title music is telling you - f*#ck yeah! You’re in for 90 minutes of ridiculous, violent action! Indeed. That opening sequence is the very definition of badass.

Terrific news. This is my favorite mid-orchestral/mid-synth Jerry Goldsmith score. I perfectly remember having bought the brand new Intrada LP on May 9, 1987. Plus that the Walter Hill's movie finale was a homage to Sam Peckinpah's THE WILD BUNCH. A perfect Goldsmith project with the Mario Kassar/Andrew Wajna dream team. My favorite track is also The Plan 9 min 22 sec long version. I even bought the rare Victor japanese DOUBLE BORDER LP.... https://www.discogs.com/fr/Jerry-Goldsmith-Double-Border-Original-Motion-Picture-Soundtrack/release/10204662 Can't wait to listen to this 2 CD release and the possible alternate + sound improvement on the previously unreleased tracks. Thanks to all at Intrada. At Mr. Thierry Schreurs: WOW! Rare indeed.

Went to see the film back in the day, Clancy Brown, Michael Ironside and William Forsythe as the baddies, I couldn't wait. Revisited the film not so long ago and...... well..........it's not that good Nick Nolte's character is actually pretty boring, Powers Boothe steals every scene they are together, and the finale...... is indeed an hommage to 'The Wild Bunch', but a poor one at that. Always loved the score though, and my fave track is 'Cash'. Here's hoping that the extra tracks are from a better source than the LLL release.

It's quite possible the upcoming double album for "Extreme Prejudice" might well accommodate the flavorful and relevant "source music" contributions reportedly overseen by Ry Cooder for the film (including some songs sung by actress Maria Conchita Alonso). Given the fact Team Intrada always does their homework on these releases, I can't imagine any other reason for a double album – and, frankly, inclusion of music by Goldsmith and Cooder, each with a strong following in America, would make this a potential sellout. Just my thought on one of my favorite Goldsmith scores. And what's not to like about a movie that features both Clancy Brown and William Forsythe?

Nick Nolte's character is actually pretty boring… That's what wearing too tight jeans will do. Cuts off circulation to your extroversion.
