Iam thinking that the Goldsmith stuff could probably be all the other stuff from STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE Disc 3 that was not included on the new reissue to be included here? We shall see ! Really? Not a Best Of from his contributions? That's an interesting prediction. Separated from the 3CD presentation, that feels like it might be a wacky set of tracks to feature. We shall see indeed! Here we are: Its STAR TREK THE MOTION PICTURE unrecorded cues finaly recorded! Whoa! What a great idea to have these here. I have a feeling it was Lukas Kendall who may have pushed for its inclusion here. We have already heard a cue from Joe Kramer some months ago. This is so neat! Yeah, I hadn't considered that possibility. It really is the best answer to "What Goldsmith?"

I'm very satisfied with the "Deep Space 9" cues. But "Voyager"... oooh... come on La La Land! Not even one cue from "Unimatrix Zero, Part I & II"!? So I suppose you are not done with "Star Trek". I think the "Great Return"-album is there in 2025.

DISC ONE includes, for the very first time anywhere, “lost cues” by Jerry Goldsmith written, but never recorded, for STAR TREK THE MOTION PICTURE, performed here by renowned composer Joe Kraemer. Special mention for this. That's an amazing gift to provide, actually doing a new recording for this release. Incredible! I can't wait to hear these.

I have a feeling it was Lukas Kendall who may have pushed for its inclusion here. We have already heard a cue from Joe Kramer some months ago. This is so neat! It was quite some time ago really and I think Kraemer did them on his own, shared his work with fellow fans, and then Lukas Kendall was likely so impressed he got in touch later about including them on an album. Now we will persumably have them in lossless for the first time, and maybe there is more here (four cues) than Kraemer shared publicly...I can't recall. It's also entirely possible that he may have done some additional tweaks to his work, if he knew it was being released on album. I wonder... Personally, I think these alternates, especially the finale, are really important. Suddenly Ilia's theme has a real journey in the score, because it has a destination. I really wish Robert Wise had let Goldsmith record that original cue, at least. Yavar

Well either way, to have them done at all is pretty sweet.

Indeed! Kraemer did a great job and it's frankly the next best thing to a (much more expensive and therefore almost certainly impractical) new orchestral recording. Yavar

Yavar I helped Tim Rodier (very informally) with his book of the ST:TMP score, and Tim was the one who discovered the unrecorded cues, while organizing the manuscripts from the Paramount archives. I brought them to Joe with the idea of recording them for a future La-La Land album project. Joe was enthusiastic and put a lot of work into them—he did a great job. Lukas

I stand corrected! I had no idea when Kraemer did these realizations a year ago that it was specifically for a future LLL release. Major kudos to you for your central part in making this happen, Lukas. So I take it what's on this album is identical (albeit in lossless audio for the first time) with what Joe shared publicly a year ago? Yavar

Well said, and its presence in the film would have been so perfect, IMO. A missed opportunity within this great and monumental score. Yavar

Great idea. Look forward to this set.
