Then again, the film is an excercise in madness and the music works PERFECTLY!

Much like this message board. (An excerise in madness I mean.)

I am sure Williams' music would work perfectly for this place too...vis a vis Images...

I'm confounded by some of the tone in this thread. As stated, the release has been licensed from the rights holders. What else do you need to know?

Has it? oz1282 and MikeJ said it has, but Ford (rather curiously) has not said so. He's only commented on the fact that it was mastered from a promotional LP.

I'm thrilled that this is finally out on CD, but who exactly are the rights holders for this music? Ford?

Why don't you take your accusatory tone and find someplace else to use it - are you an attorney? A prosecutor? Do you think you have someone on the witness stand? Nauseating. And not one hour ago Ford told me all about the licensing of this album and yes it is legit in every way.

This place really gets thick sometime.

Oh, and welcome to the board - nice of you to stop by - of course, one would have to wonder why you show up now, at this moment, in this thread, with this sort of post. Well, one would have to wonder if it all wasn't so bloody boring

A stunning score, which had some strange bedfellows in the Oscar nominee line-up that year:

Limelight by Charles Chaplin, Ray Rasch, Larry Russell (a 20-year-old re-release)
The Godfather by Nino Rota (withdrawn for reusing portions of Rota's 1958 score, Fortunella)
Images by John Williams
Napoleon and Samantha (a Disney animal movie) by Buddy Baker
The Poseidon Adventure by John Williams
Sleuth by John Addison

Think we'll ever have another post from the altmaniac or whatever his name is?

One can't expect to satisfy everyone on any department - that's what human behavior and relativism is all about.
What all the labels should be concerned about is selling the product to those that are happy with it - the ones that are not so happy will be satisfied when releases adjusted to their needs come along.
I'm still surprised only 2000 copies were pressed.

My parents give me an almanac every Christmas -- I thought it was that! wink

I found these clips:

Is the entire release in stereo, or mono like these?

Didn't mean to crossexamine anyone, just found it a trifle curious that Ford responded re: the LP source but not the licensing. Guess noone wants to be my friend now. If there's nothing to hide about the licensing, could you or Ford of you shed some light on what happened here? I've been waiting for this score to pop up on CD for a long time and am genuinely curious how someone finally managed to do it. If it's legit in every way, as you say, then kudos to Ford.

altmaniac: read the posts...there is no light that needs to be shed here...you imply that something "shady" is going on and there is nothing of the sort...why do you persist in trying to make it so? This is a completely legitimate release. That is all that has to be said on this subject. END OF STORY. Ford certainly doesn't have to answer to you or anyone else (except, perhaps, the law when it comes to copyright infringment)...and as I have said three times now...that isn't an issue here whatsoever. Prometheus is a legitimate label and SAE a legitimate provider of goods. I have no problem closing this thread if you persist (as it has become completely meaningless, anyway).

What you find curious or not curious is irrelevant, and, as the sheriff says below, none of your business. Do you ask Bob Townson who he licenses from? No, since you've never been on this board before. Did someone ask Doug Fake where he licenses things from? No, not on this board people don't. I should think that the CD itself will have that information, so if you'd really like to know, then just put some coins on the table and buy it. There is too much innuendo in your posts - as if trying to put the burden on Ford to speak up or be damned by his silence. If you're happy about the release, buy it. If you have some weird worry, don't. As I said earlier, you are not a prosecutor and no one is on trial here, much as certain Internet and message board types would like to have people believe otherwise.

Give him a break!!!
The score is a holy grail for him, it popped up in a very unexpected way, mastered from a questionable source, and the man is just asking for further explanations.
Sure, more than enough proof has already been said, but he's human after all and made a "huge" mistake about asking again.
If he's new, then welcome the man properly (you should see my posts as a newcomer).

Thanks Alex - at least I have one friend!

Haineshisway and sherriffjoe, you're right. I don't ask Bob T. and Doug F. and Lukas K. where they license their CD's from. All of the legal mumbo jumbo is usually on the packaging so I don't need to. I will wait for my order from SAE and trust that all my questions will be answered by the legal mumbo jumbo on Ford T.'s CD. Sorry for asking for Ford to respond directly about this - guess he has his reasons for not responding.

I'll give anyone a break - once. When the innuendo keeps popping up, I put the brakes on the breaks.

And yet more innuendo - "guess he has his reasons for not responding."

Why should he respond to you? Who ARE you? You sign up for the board today and immediately start in with the vague innuendo, which is clear to everyone. And of course you do this anonymously. The glory of the Internet. If I were putting out this CD (and I only wish I were) I wouldn't respond to you, either, because I don't appreciate your tone or the innuendo. Bob Townson wouldn't respond, Doug Fake wouldn't respond, no professional person would respond because it is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS. You want to know who they licensed from, read the inlay card of the CD. Or, do the research yourself. Don't come on here and ask why Ford isn't answering you. Why would he EVER want to dignify your type of post with a response?

And I mean all of the above in the nicest possible way. I'm thrilled Images is finally coming out - there's just one thing I'd like to know, frankly - WHERE WAS THIS LICENSED FROM? Damn it, I want to know and it is my RIGHT to know because, well, because, because it IS. FORD, I don't mean to imply or infer anything or create any innuendo, BUT WHY AREN'T YOU ANSWERING??? I want to know where it was licensed from, who you spoke to, what it cost, what the deal is, where you live, where Luc van de Ven lives and WHERE YOU SHOP! I guess if you don't answer ALL my questions, you have your... REASONS (cue shower music from Psycho).

And on that wonderfully illustrious note...this thread is now done.

Thank you all for participating.

Damn...sarcasm just doesn't come out well via typed letters...
