On another note is this sold out yet?! Feels like a 24 hour based on the excitement on this board.

No. It's been up about 3 hours and is 10 bucks more expensive. Not sure if it'll be another 24-hour frenzy, but I will watch.

That would actually be nice. I am on the fence with this one.....

Late 1970s John Barry is always great to have.

Sell outs are always hard to gauge. Does anyone recall how fast Silvestri's Delta Force took to sell out because I believe it was the same night it was released it was gone.

I snatched this up as I kept reloading the Intrada page before they sent out their usual e-mail etc. The price is more than usual but I understand with all the legal woes to bring it to fans.

Besides that is some great cover artwork. (I may have to watch my blu-ray of THE DEEP again soon.)

The score is gorgeous in stereo on the blu-ray and it's gorgeous in mono on the soundclips. It's a wonderful, hypnotic Barry score.

I got the 'attack' message too, but I could download the .m3u file (nad play it of course, since playing it doesn't have anything to do with the browser) with no problems.

Why were some of Intrada's 2-Disc sets -- which feature the LP presentation as a secondary disc -- priced at only $19.99 or even $24.99? Why is THE DEEP priced at a steep $29.99? Just curious.

Nomally I would say becaurse it is a 2cd-set but then i Keep thinking about that it might also be a thing to keep spectaulators away from buying it so only through fans will use money on this grail.....But I don't know for sure...

I certainly do not know the answer to this question. I am going to take a wild guess that because of having to deal with two different companies is why it is more expensive. Again, just a guess. I am just thankful that it happened. Great job Intrada !

Well, My educated guess....

It cost a sh**load to produce and they have to charge a higher price to help cover those costs.

Given that one album had to be licensed from UMG and the other from SONY, that would tend to support this theory.

I agree with Ford--the legal complications were likely enormous given that two studios were involved. There were probably other headaches we'll never hear about. Sometimes the labels are able to give us a break and lower the price (like FSM and the superb Star Trek III CD set); sometimes not. But we should all be appreciative that this thing saw the light of day. This is probably going to be another of Intrada's home runs; I wouldn't wait too long to order.

I agree with everything you wrote, except I would replace "probably" with "definitely."

The slightly higher price might slow down sales a bit and that's fine by me.

I also agree with Ford. It looks like Intrada had to work real hard to make this dream come true so I think that's fine.

Cheers

And me also. Intrada needs to take a look at its webpage settings. In my antivirus program, I can't override the blocking of the tracks without actually pasting the URLs of the samples into a list of webpages that I am specifically approving despite the warning against doing so, then shutting down the computer and re-starting. This full sequence for each individual sample. Screw that! I have no such problem on any other company's samples, so Intrada loses a potential customer. I'll save my money for something else. I'm sure this will sell out anyway, so I doubt they care. The one track I was able to listen to without my computer exploding was the Theme on Disc 2, and the sound was terrible.

Dana, I wouldn't throw the baby out with the bathwater (to coin a cliche.) Are you on a Mac or PC? What browser and version number (and anti-virus program) are you running?

I got this message ONLY with Firefox, but not with IE 8, Safari or Opera running under Windows 7, 64-bit. I'm also running the Avast anti-virus system, and have both software and hardware firewalls, and when I told Firefox to ignore the warning and proceed anyway, I was able to play the samples perfectly. (Regardless, I reported this directly to Doug and Roger.)

Regardless of this odd browser hiccup, this is a great release!

Probably depends on the costs of manufacture/licensing. And guys, $29.99 is still very cheap for boutique label releases. Keep in mind that while people gripe about CD prices being so high, they haven't gone up in price for about, oh, 18 years. I'm not saying $30 in these times isn't a good chunk of money, but just saying it's not in any way unreasonable. I'm stoked for this one. Love Barry!

Not too familiar with this one. Will let someone who wants it more get a copy and save my $35 for something else.

Coming up on two years now, but BOYS FROM BRAZIL was the same price and it took a while to sell out. Last time I looked you could still get it at SAE. For ten dollars more.
