Just listened to the samples. "Ship in Orbit (Big)" is absolutely from a better quality source than the tape originally used for the box set. "First Goner" and "Mace Fight" are also improved.

Man, you production team personnel really know your stuff. The Alexander Courage second season library cues, "First Goner" as used in "That Which Survives", and anything from "Catspaw" that could be upgraded sonically is "catnip" to me.

The Animated Series cues do have stylistic and thematic resemblances to Jonny Quest cues! Those stem transfers sound dynamic. No distortion on the high brass. My compliments! "Fire Phasers" and "Enterprise Attacked" will unleash the quatloos from this Trek-ite!

Ahhh, I have not gone through season II thoroughly yet so I didn't realize that was missing music there, too! I'll have to rip the blu-ray for that drum snare I guess. I listened to my Miri edit today and the missing cue/stinger is one of the Charlie X "zaps" from 'Zap The Antares' cue, but it is stripped down so it is just the piano chord being struck that is heard. The specific piano only stinger was never actually used in Charlie X and was only tracked into Miri and was nowhere to be found on the TOS box set.

Can't wait to get this set though!!!

It's in the scene towards the end where Spock and Bones are waiting around for Kirk and are eager to find out if the vaccine is safe.

Whoa, just listened to the sample for 14. Monster Illusion (“The Cage” M42) LM18 (2:34) and it sounds awesome! Now I want all of The Cage-Remastered, if the better source tapes are available and comprehensive. Is this possible?

I just ordered the new collection.

These newly-found recordings of The Cage are from the second- and third-season library sessions, not the original scoring sessions for The Cage. They're upgrading tracks from discs 10 and 15 of the TOS box.

A clarification: the better first-generation tapes were ALREADY used for almost everything on the TOS box set. The main exceptions were the 2nd and 3rd season library music. When we did the TOS box set, those tapes were missing, so we used the second-generation dubs (which are hissier). We subsequently located the 2nd and 3rd season library music first-generation tapes which is why we included them on the 50th Anniversary album.

Can I just say I love that LLL & L included "Communique" - the music under the early 90's teasers - as the final cue! That's a hoot and a half, and a lovely capper to this love letter to all things Enterprising.

Plus, even my wife was delighted to hear that the animated series music is finally available.

Yes, I am a very, very lucky man and trekite.

I had been dying to know what that music was for some 25 years! I finally found it by searching through the KPM library, trying educated guesses.

I remember the thread about this, from a while back - was astonished to find the album on Spotify.

I'm buying it, but I have to say this annoys me. I did not understand this release as being well if we find better sources for TOS we will add them here. I am not even a fan of the TOS music, so now I have a bunch of TOS music I will never listen to, when it could have included more music from other Trek's like the movies, other shows, or video games.

I understand that sometimes you find better sources, but that should be something separate.

Not to gang up, but to continue this thought from the other perspective...

Those of us who bought the TOS box at $199 are now out an entire disc of improvements a mere four years later, when it was explained at the time that everything was together, complete and sounding great. Will it be possible to indeed sell Disc 1 as something separate for those of us with no interest in Discs 2-4? It would be a very fair and reasonable gesture.
