There's a BIG difference between "Williams never wrote much sexy music" and "Williams couldn't write sexy music".

Alex

True. But isn't it interesting that a composer of Williams' stature, with such a long list of films under his belt, hardly ever had a sexy job? Was it typecasting?

You want sexy music, how about AMERICA: THE DREAM GOES ON. Sexy!

You can structure it any way you want. When it comes to genuinely sexy music how many shots have the experts had? Besides BASIC INSTINCT what are all the examples of Goldsmith and sex? You don't get that many shots at it even when you are not typecast.

When you put it that way, yeah. There's a general scarcity of outright sexy A-movies. Maybe CAT PEOPLE qualifies. FATAL ATTRACTION possibly.

But individual scenes come to my mind, like Stu Phillips had erotic scenes to score in both GALACTICA and BUCK ROGERS, while STAR WARS was not inclined to get steamy. Williams' lack of "hot" scenes is a happenstance, but it still caught my notice.
