The film mixes are very different to the album mixes. In the album the choral is much more in the background- in the movie (and the samples of Disc 1 available) it is much more to the foreground. It is good to have both versions of some tracks.

ordered

hopefully PSYCHO IV The Beginning will get a official release now that both II and III have complete releases.
I don't understand why these films took so long to get soundtrack releases. PSYCHO II had a lp release and later a cd release that went for outrageous prices until it finally got a complete release. PSYCHO III had only an lp release until 35 years later a cd release. PSYCHO IV had a promo but no official soundtrack and PSYCHO has never had a soundtrack release the score has been available on the laserdisc and was absent from all further releases until the Turbine blu ray collection. Hoping that Intrada can release more PSYCHO even if they can clean up the film stems if that's all that exist. 61 years and still no soundtrack release.

I hope now the doors are wide open for more Carter Burwell unreleased scores, especially the really enjoyable ones like The Jackal and The Finest Hours.

...and Fear and Mystery, Alaska and Airheads and so on.

Mystery, Alaska has been high on my list forever.

Always nice to see the "That's nice but what I really want is..." posts never go away.

When I first saw this film, I was immediately shocked by the musical approach, expecting Herrmann or some sort of Herrmann pastiche. The film itself didn’t resonate either. But over the years, I began to appreciate the score and owned it on cassette. This looks to be an excellent and most welcome release.

I hope people enjoy my liner notes for this one -- not because they're particularly well written, but because I found a lot of great research sources with quotes from Perkins, other cast members, Burwell and writer Charles Edward Pogue, and Intrada was particularly generous about allowing the booklet to be longer than usual.

They are covering their bases by including the 12" single of that track.

Scott, your notes are fantastic and covered more than I would have expected. The quotes were great and it comes through so clearly how pleased Perkins was with what Burwell provided. Thank you for giving this score the Royal treatment with your expert analysis! well done!

Loved this score, think it makes a good sister score to BLOOD SIMPLE. I always thought it was nice that Perkins took a chance on Burwell, who at the time had only one film credit to his name. Ordered!

Yeah I loved reading this booklet. Great anecdotes from Burwell. This is a great little set. The sound is really crisp and clear. I’ve been going through all the bonus tracks and they’re so wonderfully dated. I love this ridiculous mid-80’s sound. Does anyone know what the hell he’s saying in Scream of Love? It sounds like “She’s so mean” or “she’s dead meat”??? I can’t make it out.

Fantastic score. I love this kind of stuff, especially that really low, scary synth sound heard in The Swamp. Similar to Isham’s Fire in the Sky. Maybe done on similar equipment.

Wild stuff. Really out there. Thankful to Intrada for this one.

For me it always sounded like he's saying "Sh-she's on me" (?).

Here are some comments on a track-by-track basis I did on this score that was a longtime grail for me:

Thanks Intrada for finally having made it available!
