Thanks for posting this. I heard this music nearly 20 years ago and had no idea what the film was about. I will say this isn't what I had guessed! Great to finally have the music I remember put with picture.

Jerry sure seemed inspired when he wrote this - seriously.
Let's replace his Disney CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE music with this and see how it fits.

If nothing else, it is interesting to finally learn this film is referencing an "id" and not an I.D. 
It seems like quite a vanity project. We are general contractors, it's a tough risky job and we build the world. Good for you... I'm sure this was a huge hit at some trade show sixty years ago.

On a vaguely related note, there is a fascinating documentary on Netflix right now called "Bathtubs Over Broadway" that tells about the really obscure world of "Industrial Musicals" that were put on for trade shows and business conventions during the '50s, '60s, and '70s. Unlike "General", they were live, often one-time only performances, to present new products and promote sales, but like "General" they often used top-flight musical talent. Names mentioned (and in a few cases interviewed) are people like Harnick and Bock ("Fiddler on the Roof"), Bob Fosse and others. It's fairly astonishing and weird. In one case a big corporation (can't remember which) put on a one-time production for its sales force that cost $3 million back when it cost only $450,000 to produce "My Fair Lady" on Broadway. Apparently quite a few of these shows put out souvenir LP records for the employees that are quite collectible by people whose mentality (if not musical tastes) some of us can identify with.

Love Jerry in this period - even the more whimsical moments go down pretty easily.

As a few of the previous posters have remarked, great to see this at last after knowing the music for years and wondering about the source. Great stuff, and thank you Lukas for the link. The General With the Cockeyed Id was undoubtedly a heavy smoker. Loved seeing this film!

I quite agree; always worth a bump and I really hope this gets an official album release some day, even as a re-recording from the original sketches if the original recording can't be licensed.
