INDIANA JONES 5---James Mangold (FORD v FERRARI) is in negotiations to direct the sequel. The premiere has been changed from July 9, 2021 to July 29, 2022.

I can't say I'm jumping outta my seat, but after the disaster of "4" I'd say there's hope with new blood in the pipelines.

I wouldn't call 4 a disaster, but certainly a dip in quality compared to the prior 3. I'm of two minds about Spielberg stepping away from the movie. On the one hand, I don't think Spielberg has it in him to direct the Indiana Jones movie we all want to see. For the most part he stepped away from pure action films decades ago, and really doesn't show much interest in going back. On the other hand, as a producer Spielberg puts his name on a lot of awful movies, which begs the question as to how much involvement he really has with the films he produces. I enjoy Mangold's work, and he is as good of a choice as any, but I do question the wisdom of continuing the series.

Another reason why these particular movies might have been put to task is because of their avert hostility towards a certain sex even in the advertising and promotion of said films. I've never seen a director or actor say, this film wasn't made for women, or this film is so macho its going to scare the sh*t out of women.

Those are very confusing comments. Did any of the female directors referred to “say” their movies are so feminine or strongly feminine that these movies will scare the sh*t out of men? I haven’t read that anywhere. In my opinion, their promotions showed two rather silly looking movies, and they bombed. But I haven’t watched either movie so I really can’t judge them without viewing them.

Now how about actors or directors saying their movies will scare the sh*t out of women? Don’t think they’ve said that, but the “promotion and advertising” of the Jason movies, House On The Left movies, Spit on your Grave movies and other slasher-rape movies do tend to scare the sh*t out of women. One hopes such movies won’t titillate viewers. Also, I have watched some of them, and I’m not sure I wish to continue such viewings.

Beware of glittering generalities like watching the trailer of Captain Marvel and saying Nick Fury is emasculated by Brie Larson when the movie shows they are besties.

I think trailers and or other promotions of movies may attract individual interests or alienate individual interests, but those who actually view movies may be the best judges.

Spielberg isn't that person anymore to direct it, and with Lucas along he probably made it worse. I don't really care about the franchise anymore, but at least new blood will be directing.

Tim Miller on Terminator Dark Fate:

“If you’re at all enlightened, she’ll play like gangbusters. If you’re a closet misogynist, she’ll scare the f*ck out of you, because she’s tough and strong but very feminine. We did not trade certain gender traits for others; she’s just very strong, and that frightens some dudes. You can see online the responses to some of the early sh*t that’s out there, trolls on the internet. I don’t give a f*ck.”

Brie Larson on Winkle in Time:

I don’t need a 40-year-old white dude to tell me what didn’t work about A Wrinkle in Time. It wasn’t made for him!

Dana Schwartz- She Hulk writer:

We need to kill the Western Canon.
You know what, screw it: no novels by white men in high schools for the next 20 years.
“Also white men should be banned from teaching literature until 15 women win the Nobel Prize for literature in a row.”
"Look, am I saying we should ban all men from writing? wait yeah I am saying that actually.

FYI, I don't like slasher/rape films but a lot of women do. Go figure.

Careful, Brie.
The money to make the movie came from Walt Disney, not Waltina Disney.
Not that it made much of a box-office difference anyway.

Hmm.
Maybe asking a 40-year-old white dude might not have been a bad idea.
(Just kidding--never saw it! big grin)

That sounds about right. Guess she frightened some dudes. Actually the movie wasn't very good.

Schwartz's comments are idiotic and radical.
