I have two:

1) The Missiles of October--a long, stagey but ultimately suspenseful and thorough film about the Cuban Missile Crisis.

2) Echoes in the Darkness--based on shocking Joseph Wambaugh non-fiction book. Peter Coyote and Robert Loggia steal the show.

It is hard to decide which are my favorite TV movies because there are a lot, however, my TOP 3 are Duel (1971), The night stalker (1972), and The Shell Seekers (1989 version starring Angela Lansbury and featuring Emmy winning score by James DiPasquale). By the way, where do you watch all the movies? I really don't like and want to pay a subscription, so I always look for watching movies online for free. For some months, I use only https://bmovies.so/ to watch movies of high quality and for free, I can watch what movie I want because they provide a big variety of them, even the new ones.

A topic on the other side reminded me of one of my favorite TV movies.

BRIAN'S SONG. It had great acting and a heart-felt narrative all supported by a gorgeous Legrand score.

8th grade. Can still remember not one of my sports friends, incl. me, was going to admit we lost it in the last hospital scene. Except Paul, who was the biggest/tallest of 'em all. Then we found out we all did.

That and Duel, of course, a couple years later. Also got a real education watching That Certain Summer. So naive back then in m'adolescence. Ugh. Sigh.

If it counts as a TV-movie I love the three part pilot of Night Gallery.

The first segment, The Cemetery, with Ossie Davis and Roddy McDowall is the best part with that creepy Billy Goldenberg music.

Trilogy and karen black is well remembered by many on this board. It was pretty gruesome. Probably an age thing.
Was it really, officially, a tv movie?

----------------------------------------------------
Yep. I remember watching it with my sisters with my parents laughing in the next room.

I think DUEL was actually shown in theaters with extra scenes. I think the extra scene was when his car got stuck to the bus.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
A lot of US Television movies were released as theatrical films in other countries. Same goes for US television series. Series episodes were combined together into "feature length" and release in foreign cinema. UK did that with Space: 1999 too.

We've had a long-running thread about U.S. TV movies that were shown as theatrical features overseas.
