Manderley may be referring to a bad accident I had 20 years ago. Walking a block away from my apartment, I was hit by a car, thrown into the air, and was rushed to cedars sinai and in operations night and day for 5 days and nights. Passed away twice on the operqting table and brought back twice. in a coma for three weeks after that and in intensive care for five weeks. a horrifying experience.
Met manderley when I first moved to L.A. I wish I could see him again.

I have this theory that we all have an invisible end date stamped on our forehead, & if you haven't reached that date yet, well, you can survive anything. Mind you, on that date, you're a goner, just tripping over some carpet slippers will do it.

70 and still a happy collector of film music.

Happy birthday, Joe!

Can I have your CDs when you are dead?

(Obscure movie quote reference for the Three Amigos fans in the house) wink

Hope it was a happy birthday. Keep spinning those discs. I've enjoyed reading your thoughts and insights going back to The Perfect Vision days in the early '90s. All the best!

Over the years I have seen posts from the nearly departed members along the lines of: "Will some label please release (fill in the blank titles) before I am dead?"

What are the film and television scores Joe Caps wishes to have out before it's too late?

Diary of Anne Frank - complete.
Possible ones -
naked and the dead - warner vid used a mono mag for its blue ray, but its a three track with a separate up and down music track.
same goes for Freindly Persuasion mono three track. both could be used for cd release.
rozas tme to love and a time to die - complete and in stereo from Universal.
Disney - music tracks from Darby Ogill, Third Man on the Mountain, In Search of the Castawayssouth Pacific - complete - and it does exist.

Yes, I think there’s a fair chance Manders might be referring to that! Seven more lives then, Joe Cats, sorry, Caps. Many happy returns is definitely the best birthday greeting for you!

I hit 73 in May. Question: What should I arrange for my score collection when I pass on? I haven't a single family member who loves film scores and songs. I have nearly 1,000 from Jolson's Plantation Act (1926) into the 1970"s and scores from Max Steiner's early RKO work up through some of the latest John Williams. I want to donate my collection to a person or institution where it will be appreciated and treasured, Suggestions?

I'm nearly 69 and in a similar place, but as well as soundtracks I have thousands of books and magazines and no younger relatives.

Good question. I'm 52 and shudder at the thought of my rarer titles ending up in the dollar bin at Goodwill. I wish I knew my expiry date so I could plan accordingly.

All us old crumblies are in the same boat...we don't know anyone who wants or is interested in all the stuff we've accumulated. I'm fine with that now, after all I won't be around. There's been times I've gone into a charity shop, & it's been full of stuff I like, & I'm thinking: someone with my tastes has kicked the bucket reciently.

A Slightly Belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY Wishes, Joe! Good health and many years to come!

I just turned 72 in May. We "SILVER FSM CLUB MEMBERS" ought to get together every so often somehow.

Your medical case discussion makes me want to ask a question. As a doctor, I always ask any of patients who have "coded" about whether or not they experienced the "Near Death Experience" we read and hear about. Being in OB/GYN, not many of my own patients are in a circumstance to have had one. But I do have two patients (one 32 and one 70+). Maybe you'd prefer to do this privately with me. I find the topic so fascinating.

Like others in our age group have posted already, what to do with our accumulated collections (if the family has no interest)
and the amount of room and shelf space involved remains a thorny issue. Bequeath it? Goodwill or Salvation Army it? Donate it (to whom or to what)? Raffle it off? Hire someone to sell it for the family? Sell it myself before I depart? Or maybe through force of will (or denial) just take it all with me? smile
