SEASON 1:
Series that began in 1973. It had five seasons and some TV movies. All episode scores are by John Cacavas unless otherwise noted (which will be only the firt episodes, and then later the TV movies). The generic and forgettable theme music is by Billy Goldenberg. NOTE: Archive.org has a wonky video player. You must wait for the page to fully load, then click on the episode in the list to make the correct episode player, regardless of the link you use. Otherwise the video player will just load the first episode in the list. And if the page doesn't load fully, it will also fail to play or play the wrong episode. Archive.org pages tend to load slowly, so be patient. Attention readers: I have been implementing a system that is nothing more than a note to myself; for cues that I want to include in a suite one day, for now on I will denote them with ^ symbol. It has no special meaning to anyone else but myself. No, the lack of an up arrow symbol doesn't mean the cue is bad (it just may have too much SFX or FX for suite use or just isn't worth my time to edit and include). Hence forth this system will be in all future threads and pre-exiting threads that I go back to for missed episodes. Anything in ( ) are just notes to the arrow and you need not bother with that. The system does not mean that I will make a suite or that one has been made, it's simply for my own reference if and when I do decide to. (NtM: 49:43) "You may be nothing, but you're my nothing." "One for the Morgue" By: Kim Richmond https://ok.ru/video/2199131392605 This is the only effort by Richmond for the series. It's also the last series episode to be scored by somebody other than Cacavas. The TV movies will shake that up. Highlights: 3:56 in. 5:19 in.^ 12:46 in.^ 22:05 in.^ 25:42/29:07/30:42 in. Including the rare use of anklungs in an episode score of a TV series.^ 38:00 in.^ 40:29 in. And the source cue that crossfades into the end of this cue.^ 44:22 in.^ 46:22 in.^ 49:50 in.^ I'd liked to have heard more from him on the show. Oh well. About 36:20 in -- I'd take that source music, too. SEASON 2:
Somewhere during the season, the theme music was re-arranged. I'm not going to re-check every episode to find where. If somebody here catches when it changes, feel free to post it and I'll edit my post to make a note on the specific episode. "The Chinatown Murders" (Parts 1 and 2) https://ok.ru/video/7124345686669 Highlights: 0:42 in. 9:17 in. 27:25 in.^ 30:08 in. 32:14 in.^ 35:06 in.^ 45:47 in. Including a water chime.^ 47:43 in. And the cue after the commercial break.^(both) 20:27 in.^ 27:01 in.^ 34:54 in. And the cue after the commercial break.^(second) 40:47 in.^ 43:02 in. Over six and-a-half minutes long.^ (NtM: 27:30) "A Very Deadly Game" https://archive.org/embed/kojak-season-2/S2+E3+A+Very+Deadly+Game.mkv Highlights: 0:52 in.^ 15:37 in.^ 18:36 in.^ 20:17 in.^ 24:37 in. Cacavas really does funky music well, but it's scattered about episodes and not consistent in use. This is another good example of such a funky cue.^ 26:17 in.^ 29:08 in.^ 34:28 in.^ 35:28 in. And the cue after the commercial break.^(second: 35:50) 39:15 in. Over three minutes of moderate dramatic music and car chase music.^ A number of cues have sounds you'd associate with Jewish people, giving it a nice touch of difference from previous episode scores. Another strong effort by Cacavas. This and "Mrs. Columbo" are so far the shows where Cacavas really had a chance to shine. 1980's broadcast TV insult: "flake off". Around four and-a-half minutes long.^ 1:39:56 in.^ Too soon? A good alternative episode title would have been: "Curtains for Curtains". Muwahahahaaa. Around 34:00 in there are two sources cues going on at the same time. I would like to have the funky one, not the circus cue. Cacavas' score for this two-parter, was nominated for an Emmy. The other competition that year: "Rich Man, Poor Man" Composer: Alex North (WINNER) "Bronk" Episode: "Next of Kin" Composer: Jack Urbont "Little House on the Prairie" Episode: "Remember Me" Composer: David Rose (Full listing: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Primetime_Emmy_Award_for_Outstanding_Music_Composition_for_a_Series ) "My Brother, My Enemy" https://ok.ru/video/4826790038157 Highlights: 0:52 in.^ 4:40 in. 8:08 in.^ 14:45 in.^ 20:52 in.^ 24:18 in.^ 25:55 in. 27:16 in.^ 32:23 in.^ 34:31 in.^ 41:46 in.^ 44:06 in.^ 48:18 in. 49:30 in.^ I think all those kind of upbeat funky cues, starting with 14:45 in, can probably be logically all crossfaded together in some sequence, for a suite. It might require whacking of opening and/or closing seconds of cues, but in the end I think it would be worth it. If I ever get around to making suites for this show -- that's what I'll be doing with those cues. Guest starring Sylvester Stallone. "Sweeter Than Life" https://archive.org/embed/kojak-season-3/S3+E3+Sweeter+Than+Life.mkv Highlights: 3:03 in. A good deal of waa/wah/wah-wah electric guitar playing. It's yummy.^ 6:26 in. On a set of season three scoring, that's the only cue I'd take away from it. (NtM: 46:28)

Continuing SEASON 3:
"On the Edge" https://archive.org/embed/kojak-season-3/S3+E16+On+The+Edge.mkv Highlights: 0:51 in.^ 3:58 in. Joining a cue already in progress for some rumbling dramatic material. 10:25 in.^ 13:28 in. And the cue after the commercial break.^ 17:13 in.^(18:10) 27:27 in.^ 34:24 in.^ 39:17 in.^ 41:51 in.^(open/43:41) "Any man who doesn't want money is a dangerous man." Out-of-context quote... "Why didn't you come sooner?!" "A Wind from Corsica" https://archive.org/embed/kojak-season-3/S3+E17+A+Wind+From+Corsica.mkv Highlights: 0:51 in.^ 2:35 in.^ 18:03 in.^ 27:12 in.^ 35:40 in. 42:31 in.^ 46:02 in. The source cue playing on the cab radio.^ 49:32 in.^ "Bad Dude" https://archive.org/embed/kojak-season-3/S3+E18+Bad+Dude.mkv Highlights: 0:52 in. Funky opening.^ 8:25 in. Funky.^ 9:35 in. Funky.^ 11:58 in.^ 16:05 in.^ 18:46 in. Over three minutes of funky goodness.^ 22:59 in.^ 31:12 in. And the source cue that immediately follows it.^ 35:18 in.^ 37:52 in. Light funky material.^ 39:16 in. 41:30 in. Funky cue (for the first minute) that begins like something John Parker would have done for "Cannon".^ 49:21 in.^ 38:47 in is just an edit job of a cue earlier in the episode. I cited nearly every single cue. I personally can't imagine skipping any of the cues cited above. I wouldn't be opposed to a full score release, though I do think only what I cited is needed. Kojak: "The only thing that bum isn't into, is jail." "A Grave Too Soon" https://archive.org/embed/kojak-season-3/S3+E23+A+Grave+Too+Soon.mkv Highlights: 0:52 in. I think the entire cue is an edit job of two cues from prior episodes.^ 15:46 in.^ 22:23 in. I think this might be tracked, too.^ 23:23 in. This might be tracked as well.^ 43:24 in.^ (NtM: 14:40, 26:33, 37:20) "The Frame" https://archive.org/embed/kojak-season-3/S3+E19+The+Frame.mkv Highlights: 3:01 in.^ 12:48 in.^ 15:05 in.^ About 22:00 in.^ 24:11 in.^ 25:35 in.^ 26:45 in.^ 34:53 in.^ 39:13 in.^ 43:12 in.^ I think the score playing on the TV starting around 19:00 in, is just a score cue from a prior episode. (NtM: 36:53) "They're closer to me than my underwear."
