The sequel to the third film, has a director: Gil Kenan.

Gil only has six director credits to his name and one is an episode of a TV series and this project.

He has no composer he's worked with more than once. The last composer he worked with was Dario Marinelli.

EDIT:

Here is a link to my thread on the previous film:

What I wouldn't give to see Kenan reunite with Douglas Pipes, but for the purposes of this project, I nominate Peter Bernstein.

Maybe Rob Simonsen will produce a score that’s 95% based on Randy Edelman’s score for GHOSTBUSTERS II, and only give him an inconspicuous “themes by” credit at the end this time?

I get the impression that Jason Reitman was the one with the raging hard-on for meticulously reproducing everything EXACTLY as it was in the original.

I've gotta hope that Kenan will be more concerned with telling a good story.

Larry847, this is the wrong film. This is the sequel to that film, which is still in-the-works. I have a thread for the correct film, somewhere.

Sony has confirmed to MSW that Dario Marianelli ("Pride and Prejudice", "Atonement", "Bumblebee") is writing the score for the upcoming #GhostbustersFrozenEmpire. Film is helmed by @gilkenan, whose "A Boy Called Christmas" was also scored by Marianelli. #soundtrack #filmmusic

Good. After such a terrible movie last time at least the score might be decent now for a change.

Neat choice. I might have to see the movie now.

I liked the last score, which was an impressively faithful adaptation of Elmer Bernstein's material (and the original material was composed and orchestrated in Bernstein's style). If Marianelli follows in the footsteps of the last score and keeps the "Bernstein" sound, then I'm very interested. I know that Sony/Columbia wants the "Ghostbusters" property to become their "Star Wars" and in doing that they are, at least for now, trying to remain somewhat stylistically consistent with the first two "Ghostbuster" films so I think that bodes well for the score having a bit of "Bernstein" in it (or "Edelman," of course, if they decide to go that route). Has Peter Bernstein mentioned working on this one, as well?

Hope it's not just a cut & paste Bernstein adaptation job, like the last one.

The Kenan film A Boy Called Christmas is pretty good, and has a nice traditional type score.
Hopefully that bodes well for this one with Dario.
