Yeah, it's expanded THIS TIME. Next time, it will still be expanded, but with better sound. It might be complete, but then again it might not, in which case you will be asked to shell out yet more money in the future for a complete version. And still later on there will be an
even MORE complete version, followed still later by the MORE complete version WITH BETTER SOUND!!!!!! We are not made of
money. Sure, the choice to buy is always up to us. Trouble is, we
can't help ourselves, just like junkies and their fixes.

Oh pipe down, whiners. smile Sometimes a score release can't be complete because some of the material is lost or ruined. Sometimes it's a creative choice of the composer or producers. But if it's between getting your favorite scores expanded (not complete) or not expanded at all, do you really want to boil it down to an all-or-nothing approach? I don't think so. Be thankful for what we do get. Ya know, the glass half-full idea?

That said, I will be the first to whine if MY favorite score gets expanded but isn't complete. wink

Agreed. I'd rather have something expanded but still incomplete than just not released at all.

I'd rather get a score which has never before been released, than one
which is newly expanded, then expanded with better sound, and so on
for the umpteenth time. There are many scores which continue to
languish in the vaults, while some are re-issued for the second and third time, and not after 20 or 30 years since the first issue. For those
scores never released, that's not the glass half-full, it's the glass
completely empty.

not "complete" often means nothing more than short, transitional, , stinger , or tracked music is 'missing'.

This is particularly infuriating because all Americans are required BY LAW to buy every release of a film score ever produced. And of course humanity has no free will. DANG, it's one frustrating world!

I hate when we get "complete" scores that are not expanded because they had never been previously-released. I would rather they first get released in an incomplete fashion so we can all then yearn for an expanded version to complete the process.

The older I get, the less complete I feel, and yet I find my waistline expanding.

I could care less if a score is expanded, complete, incomplete or what have you. I am just happy the music is released.

I'd much rather see premiere releases.

The problem with incomplete scores is that on several ocasions "the music" is not released.

Well there is obviously some exceptions, like Broughton's BAMBI 2 (less than 10 minutes of score). But for the most part, especially with the expansions often requested on this board, I am quite happy with the original releases.

Jeff, I object to being forced to read your comments above. I find your truths to be offensive to my delusions.

Please present yourself to the nearest Agony Booth for a one-hour session. Thank you,

A good example of this is The Right Stuff. Masters lost so they used what was originally created for the album version which was never released at the time the film came out.

However I would have preferred a full re-recording of this score. What ended up coming out is way to short, way out of order (Yeager takes flight then he taxis out onto the runway?) and with some horribly distorted tracks.

I once referred to the 'expanded, expanded' DANCES WITH WOLVES as "complete"
Big mistake.
One of our beloved posters on this board e-mailed me: "it's NOT complete" sayeth he>

I think THE RIGHT STUFF is perfect as is, and I am quite happy that Varese made it available.
