I did not really reply with CDs or a number of CDs, as there are so many releases, and sometimes I re-buy the same recording again (and perhaps even again), like, say MASADA (I got the original LP, the Varèse release of the same, the Intrada 2CD set, and the new Intrada 4 CD set.. I guess that's it), sometimes I don't (I got the original Monsignor LP, and the Intrada release of the same, but did not buy the latest edition). I really decide this on a case by case basis. Obiously, I factor in how much do I like the score, and do I think the subsequent release is a minor or even major improvement. Obviously, there are scores I'd be more fanatic about than others. If I find the original soundtrack releases already well done, as in MONSIGNOR or EDWARD SCISSORHANDS, I don't necessarily feel the need to "upgrade". EDWARD SCISSORHANDS is a good example where. It's one of my favorite (Danny Elfman) scores, and he obviously put a lot of care when the music originally put out on album.
