To be honest, I'm kinda honked off about this...what does this do to the value of the extra copy from the original pressing that I hoarded?

Yes, and I got two copies. Still, I guess there's still a "first pressing" cachet to it.

Ah you lucky people.
I got mine when it first came out back in the day. Good to see those who missed it have a chance now.

And I'm keeping mine. I might get the new one later.

It's one of only a few releases from FSM that I didn't order first time around. I'll be getting it this time. Thanks Lukas and team!

I am happy for those who never bought it and now have the opportunity, but here is another example of where I can "throw" away the original cd which I bought for quite some dollars.
how reliable are those so called" limited" editions nowadays. Again, nice for you guys who now doesn't have to pay the (F)Ebay rates..

This issue has superior cover artwork,
using the original theatrical poster.

Thanks, Lukas!

Read FSM's press text:
"The new CD does not feature liner notes—only a six-panel fold-out booklet"

The liner notes are only online. So I will keep the original release.

Delightful news. The re-release is absolutely deserving because the original album was among the greatest half dozen soundtracks ever produced. Yet, I don't know why exactly! All those disparate musical elements and unique sounds simply fused together to form something quite unique in scoring and score albums. A perfect production, too good to be end up in a cloned limbo of pirated CDRs.

Question is... who is the woman on the front cover of the new release? I can't remember her from the movie (although I haven't seen it for ten years).

Paid a lot for my copy of this as well, over $250 would love to see an end to all limited editions.

Now it's time for a STEREO release of Monte Walsh! I'm glad Omega is being re-issued.

The pure glee I'm feeling is perfectly encapsulated by this post. I'll put this on my Christmas wish list.

The only reason it's limited is beacuse they can't afford to make everything unlimited. When things like this sell out in a market like this, it's more an aberration than anything. And can you really fault a company for rereleasing something they know they'll make money off of? What's more, it's a completely different release, if I was anal enough to want the original disc to fill in that "vol __" spot in my shelf, well, I'd buy it. big grin

What exactly does that mean...just all images...like a Varese booklet?

to limit a title is part of a commercial strategy and some sort of promise the releasing company gives us, if those limited titles got re-released again (by the same company f.C.S.!) for instance what they did with the Changeling, I think that is not a good sign and the term "limited" will definately lose its power at the end. I think that people start to loose faith in those companies who "break" their promise! They obviously only limit them to sell them out quickly!

I'm glad you are in the minority here with such a narrow minded opinion.

I welcome any new pressing of a sold out title.

I understand the poster. It's great for those who didn't buy it the first time around.

It does devalue the original issue.

It does make it tough for those who want to have the "definitive" issue of the title.

Despite my film music interests being almost exclusively Golden Age, The Omega Man is high up on my list of favourite scores. A highly original score with an abundance of melody and rhythmic energy which I find myself playing frequently (great car driving music!). I've ordered this improved version without hesitation! I also love Jeff Bond's on-line notes about meeting Charlton Heston. Having once had the great pleasure to meet him myself I know what a larger than life appearance he had.
