THE OMEGA MAN HAS RISEN!

To the chagrin of speculators everywhere, Film Score Monthly re-releases the sold-out Ron Grainer gem in a newly remastered edition

Linden, VA – October 20, 2008 – Film Score Monthly has done something it has never done before...

Because you demanded it.

Because FSM improved the master.

Because it's a great score.

Because it's hard to keep the last man on Earth down!

It’s the historic reissue of Ron Grainer’s The Omega Man (FSMCD Vol. 3, No. 2) featuring a newly reconstructed master in an unlimited edition (at significant cost to FSM) for the collectors who missed out on one of the most popular and long-sold-out titles in its catalogue. FSM could simply not stand idly by and watch clowns selling CD-Rs at outlandish prices on eBay and do nothing to stop it!

The CD features a new six-panel, fold-out booklet, and the complete original liner notes (along with new commentary prepared especially for this edition) are available free in a downloadable format at http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/notes/omega_man.html.

The new edition is available now from Screen Archives Entertainment at www.screenarchives.com.

I was lucky enough to get the previous edition when a batch was found and FSM & SAE offered for 12-CD orders.

It's a score I enjoy a lot.

Thanks for re-releasing it, for those who had missed it before!
The "2.0 Unlimited" line under the title may be confusing to casual buyers, though.

It's very unexpected, and you could have had fun making people try and guess it! wink

Wow, this makes me VERY fortunate! Why? Because I needed money and sold my old copy just a few months ago, to a good deal on ebay. I would NEVER have gotten that amount if I had waited untill this arrived.

To top it off, I may re-purchase this again now to a decent price if I want to.

Sweet!

BANG! BANG! BANG!

It was about time. That's the greatest news in the world of soundtrack markets in a very, very long time! Congratulations to FSM and BIG THANK YOU! I'll order that one, too.

Now, I'm awaiting "The Towering Inferno" to be reiussed with improved sound in the nearer future.

Smart, great move!

I'll probably buy the second edition as well ;-)

What a coincidence: only yesterday I remixed the last track "Dutch Takes Over", I mean - I shortened it in order to get rid of the "E-I-E-I-Os" - only to find in the running times of the new edition that this "hidden track" got finally kicked out of the album!

Funny how life is...

For minimizing the speculator's greediness, it's really a welcome idea, Lukas.
And most of all: For the unlucky fellows who had to live without this wonderful music for the last couple of years.

So if you didn't catch it the first time: GO GET IT!

And BTW: What about re-releasing THE TOWERING INFERNO?

What good news!

I didn't pick it up originally. You can't categorise this fine score ... archaic folk-music melodically, jazzy, pop, even disco here and there, yet 'classical' and well-composed.

How did the 'clowns on E-bay' mentioned manage to sell those CDRs? Weren't they barred?

Intriguing. I just might get this some year.

However, I've heard horror stories of people treating their CDs of The Wild Bunch as malt liquor coasters. Truly something must be done to rectify this injustice!

: awaits THAT rerelease :

Any possiblity on The Poseidon Adventure and Towering Inferno? (I've got the original copies, but I want to have improved sound and better artwork, the Poseidon artwork is really disaster to me)

Excellent! It shows that FSM is first & formost for fans & lovers of film music, & not in the business of creating collectable items. I'll admit I have the boot of this (it's such a great score), which I will now happily throw away.

Another vote for "The Towering Inferno".

Pity Warner couldn't have used this mix for the Blu-ray ....I hear the sound is pretty lousy.

To be honest, I'm kinda honked off about this...what does this do to the value of the extra copy from the original pressing that I hoarded?

Nothing whatsoever. You'll be ecstatic to know that it's still worth exactly what it originally cost!
