Semi-related: a while Lukas made a semi-joking post about obscure scores and composers mentioning Perry Botkin Jr.'s score to Skyjacked. Well I just saw the film and it's not a bad score at all. Very dated but still orchestral and a decent theme to boot.

Wow. I just mentioned Perry Botkins' score to Tarzan the Ape Man on another thread. This is like dayjahboo. Also if an Airport Box set is released wouldn't you have to go through some kind of screening to get a copy?

I was just thinking about these scores again the other day-- I can safely say that an Airport box set would be my holiest of grails. One day....

It's not going to happen. Intrada isn't releasing old Universal sountracks, only the albums (from UMG)."

Doesn't HELLFIGHTERS contradict that statement?

I know many of us have gone over this territory before, but I would love to get at least Newman's AIRPORT from the original tracks.

Then explain (in addition to the Amazing Stories albums mentioned above) this little lot: Gray Lady Down, The War Wagon, Hellfighters, Battlestar Galactica and Back To The Future...

That's silly. None of those releases (incl. Hellfighters) had happened when I posted that! Things do change I'm happy to say.

EDIT. Oh and since then, we've also had Paramount opening its doors & the end of the 3000 copy limit on soundtracks. All great news.

it could come in the black box* that records the airplane in-flight history!

brm

*idea copyrighted by Bruce R.Marshall

Except that what is always referred to as the black box is actually painted international orange (day-glo).

(Apologies to Bruce and betenoir) Because someone had to do it...

Of course, shipping costs would be a nightmare, and overseas customers can forget about air mail.

Would buy an Airport boxed set n a second. Airport 77 is one of my Holy Grails too. The main theme is great but I really like the scoring Cacavas did for the crash sequence. Very interesting and the underwater and rescue sequences as well. Schifrin's Airport 79 score is fun too. nice jazzy take on some of the action scenes.

Somebody out there listen to us. even the released CD's of Airport and Airport 75 are missing good amounts of music.

I always love it when this thread gets resurrected smile

This box set is absolutely my holy grail. Airport '77, in particular.

La La Land...are you listening?

Maybe one of those Intrada October 14 releases will be a Cacavas 2-fer. smile

That would be wonderful! I would feel bad though if the '79 Schifrin fans get left out. A box set would be best but after all these years I'll take Airport '77 in any way I can! smile

Someday, someday. I just listened to the main titles from all the films last night and thought about how great it would be to finally see these scores released. Box set or no. I love Intrada's handling of the Jaws films so far and I think a similar roll-out for these films would be great.

I'm very happy to buy these babies one at a time - with Airport '77 and Airport '79 leading the pack.

Intrada appears to be the most likely - based on their current relationship with Universal.

In fact, I've decided I will pledge to support them triple-fold and buy three of each '77 and '79 - and I have a firmly based, scientifically sound, completely rational reason for doing so ... provided these are regular 1-disc releases.

3 of each will cost me - direct from Intrada and given the current pricing model for Special Collection titles and shipping - $77.97

It's a sign!!!!!

I'm now officially and genuinely grateful for Intrada's "Rest of the World" rates and that I live at the ends of the earth. Yeah so the '79 digits are reversed, but luckily I see past that cryptic portion of my firmly based, scientifically sound and completely rational methodology.

Intrada, please consider this a genuine pledge.

big grin Hey, did you ever hear from that guy that *reportedly* had that rare Airport '77 promo LP? Or was it a bust?

Cute, but $77.97 would only get you three copies of one score, right?

3 x $19.99 = $59.97, if you double that (for two Airport scores) you're already at $119.94 before shipping...
