Oh for Christ's sake, some people need to stop taking things so seriously and as a personal attack.
I'm a big Williams fan, it was intended as a bit of humour.

And it was in this spirit that I took it. Besides, John Williams himself would be the first to admit that he stood on the shoulders of giants. And thank God he did! I wish more composers were as capable and competent to give us views from these heights.

Happy Birthday Mister Williams! I know this sounds 'grand' but this man's music really did play an important part in my life on several occasions (joyful and sad..). And he graciously sent me a autographed black and white picture of him conducting (after me writing a fan letter) which still holds a proud place in my living room. I still love his music dearly and I'm sure he's gonna blow us away again with 'Lincoln'. He is the master of movie music.

I better get dozens of "Likes" for my status.

"What else can be said for a man who has achieved so much in his life?
Happy 80th birthday, John Williams!!! Empire, Superman, and Raiders will be blasting from my speakers all night."

I saw that La-La Land made their John Williams status mere moments after mine. Coincidence, or am I trendsetter for this afternoon? razz

Anabel, I celebrated M. Truffaut's birthday as well and watched Day for Night, Shoot the Piano Player and Stolen Kisses. I regret that he did not live to be 80

Top notch selection Judy! And STOLEN KISSES is my favorite Antoine Doinel's picture because of Charles Trenet's song and - most of all - that magic last sequence with the confession from this unknown man :

I'm very touched about your celebration, Judy.

And back to this thread, this is how i celebrated 80th John Williams' anniversary :

This rocks! My parents have an LP with music that doesn't feature in the Varèse CD. And - that's quite odd - my dad told me that music from the CD doesn't feature in the LP either! Anyway, it would have been easier to pick up a STAR WARS cue or an INDIANA JONES cue - RAIDERS OF THE LOST RAK was the first LP i bought with my own pennies. But this score is a gem and i just love the movie, so today i listened to this CD!

JOYEUX ANNIVERSAIRE MAESTRO JOHN WILLIAMS!
