Wow! Almost bypassed this fellow because he was such a legend, wrote so many songs and was attached to so many hit musicals! But when I look at the total number of dramatic scores he wrote he no-doubtedly qualifies for this list.
Hard to believe no one has mentioned Walter Schumann's brilliant score to the Laughton- Mitchum masterpiece, THE NIGHT OF THE HUNTER. We need a re-recording badly. Someone, some label; please.
RAINTREE COUNTY was a great score, the main theme is so touching. NAT KING COLE did the vocal on it.
