djintrepid: Re your I highly recommend this release to anyone who is a lover of film scores.
For the most part, that seems to reflect the prevailing opinion of members of FSM who bought this La-La-Land Records release, some shelling out money that hurt to part with it. I continue to enjoy it, and, as I've repeatedly pointed out, am glad I bought this revelatory soundtrack. We film music lovers here at FSM owe a debt of gratitude to enterprising companies like La-La-Land that take the financial risks to not just release titles like this but to do them properly. La-La-Land, you did good, verrrrrrrrrry good!
Thor, how can you call yourself a Williams fan - and especially a fan of his religioso mode - and not realize that this film contains this great Williams cue:
And furthermore not realize that this great cue wasn't on the original OST?
Jason, thank you for bringing that back. While watching I glanced behind me at the dresser for a quick glimpse of my Pop's dog tags that are hanging from some little doo-dad. He ended up on one of the Japanese islands after the surrender. Eerie seeing them while hearing the ones clinking around Jamie's neck.
Classic coming-of-age shot, btw, of Jamie staring at Basie and finally seeing him for what he is.
I ordered this in time but have to wait for my relative to bring it to me from US. It should be arrive this weekend, hopefuly along with a bunch of other goodies.
I just don't like vocal music, in general, there are exceptions. Can't really explain why it just does not appeal to me.
I thought I was the only one who can't stand the vocal cues on this score. Though I tend to listen to film scores as background when doing something else so vocals that are distracting like the ones here and require too much attention don't work for me.
Folks my set just arrived. Loved the presentation of the set and the music is obviously gorgeous and beautifully remastered. Mike Mattessino's notes and essay are terrific. Loved the discovery and connection between' Home and Hearth' and 'Jims New Life'. The alternates and the new cues are just outstanding. What an outstanding package all around. Kudos to the LLL team for making this William fan a very happy fan today.
Thanks for restocking this one - on the fence as I own the original cd. If the sound and content are much improved then I’ll probably double dip. Good soundtrack!

I assure you wont need the OST (apart from the nostalgic playback)- the new program sounds stunning iand in high quality transfer and you need to hear the film mix version of the Exultate Just: End Credits.
