Hi Thor! I don't have a problem with Goransson and congratulate him on his Oscar win. However, I was rooting for Shaiman the other day. Shaiman has been in the business for decades and has never won the Oscar.

Yes, Shaiman winning would have been a hundred times better. POPPINS was actually in my runner-up list when I did my top 10 of 2018. Vice versa, BLACK PANTHER was in my 'bottom drawer' list.

Mary Poppins Returns any day over the generic score for Black Panther. Glad I didn't run out and see BP. It was so hyped by everyone the first six months then once it hit home video and streaming the hype was lowered considerably. And so are my expectations.

I agree, I feel Shaiman should have won, there is some really good classic Hollywood type music and songs in this picture, some really joyous and melodic scoring. He should have won, but we all know how awards go, often they land wrongly. The film itself really is quite joyous too, really nice to see Dick Van Dyke again

I didn't find the songs all that memorable but damn the orchestration is amazing.

I just bought BLACK PANTHER on Blu-ray but haven't seen it yet, am I gonna like this sucker?smile

You are extremely generous in your reviews Henry, but your favorite film ever, Mad Max Fury Road, is pretty gritty and stripped down, which is pretty opposite of the CG green screen fest that Panther is, so I would imagine you very brave blind buy here might not make you that happy. But then again, you are generous.

Hi Ado! You were right about the CG green screen, there was a lot. But overall I enjoyed the film. It's not one of my favorites however.

I enjoy the film quite a bit, and for me it holds up to multiple viewings. Worthy of best picture? Probably not, but the same could be said of plenty of other films that have been nominated, or even won.

Crash. wink
