This guy's bio takes credit for Horner's scores as if they're his own music. Not a good sign.

Ummm.. he's not taking any credit away from Horner at all. He was the producer of "My Heart Will Go On" hence his Grammy Award. He also correctly co-wrote and produced "I See You." He co-wrote the score to Mag 7 using Horner's themes. He also adapted and arranged the music for Pandora at Disney World. And he also worked on many other scores with Horner. How is that him taking credit as if they're his own scores?

Brendon. The best thing you can do is just ignore, Thor. I probably should have taken my own advice earlier today.

So, Erik, what's your take on Mica Levi?

Yes that’s how I read it. Seems crystal clear to me.

Might be a good idea! Could do without the stress!

Hey Thor, this is how Franglen sounded on one of his first scores, BORN TO RUN from 1993:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbxU-aP9gtg

Quite good first 4 minutes, eh? Nice end title too.

I like that opening theme, and I use to tease Franglen with it on Facebook.

I also liked his synclavier programming for David Foster in the early 90s.

Yes, one that is completely honest.

And clearly needs to grow up just a tiny bit.

Dude, with how much you exaggerated The Mandalorian discussion, pot calling the kettle black.

Dude, that wasn't an exaggeration. That was a critical, fair review. And I wasn't calling Goransson any childish names while doing so.

Still better than Barfe, but really not that much.

I don't have a strong opinion one way or the other. I didn't think The Magnificent Seven was that good. Other than that, I haven't heard anything from this guy.

The outcome is probably he either will do an amazing imitation of Horner's music or he falls short. Not much intrigue to be honest.

I loved Magnifcent Seven more than most so I’m very optimistic about this, though

I’d have loved previous Cameron collaborator Joel McNeely to get the gig!

So now I'm able to add Franglen to the list of hack composers who take over franchises I love and ruin potentially great movies

Can you guys believe that an adult man actually wrote this?

-Erik-

Hey, it's 50 below zero where he is and the sun shines two hours. day.
So, be kind

How can a positive thread descend into chaos so quickly!?

How are Giacchino, Desplat and Franglen hacks? Please elaborate?

Well, 'positive' is in the eye of the beholder, isn't it? This was not positive news to me. I care very much for the AVATAR universe, both score and film. So the hiring of Franglen -- albeit somewhat expected -- was a provocation and punch to the gut.

Fair enough. But why is Giacchino o a hack, or Desplat? They are not in my top ten but blimey I would hardly describe them as hacks!

Joel McNeely; now there's a hack!

From "hack composers" to "Junkie XS", there are a lot of immature takes on this thread. And it just started!

Joel McNeely; now there's a hack!

I'll take Joel (Hack) McNeely over any other newbie composer any day.
Thor don't know what hack means.
