Good timing.

Yet another film score featuring John Williams and Harrison Ford coming out in a few months or less.

The really nice thing is that this gives me the opportunity to fill a whole in my John Williams discography; I don't have any previous version of the score, so it's definitely one I will pick up.

Lovely performance, and with none other than Williams himself playing the piano.

And doesn't (or didn't) need his goggles to read the music. As a wearer I find that moderately interesting.

Nice art! Jim Titus knocked it out of the park as usual.

I kind of expected a Williams title this month, but Sabrina is something of a surprise as I thought the OST was fairly complete already. I also thought for whatever reason that Born on the Fourth of July, Catch Me If You Can, The Terminal, The Patriot, Nixon and Hook would be more expansion worthy. Perhaps that was an unfair assumption.

Either way, it's nice to see some new releases this month and I'll definitely be picking this up!

We felt it would have been shoehorned a tad too much into this, so no talk on Amistad for now.

Btw, the episode will go live this Friday at 10AM PST on thelegacyofjohnwilliams.com!

Excellent news, Maurizio!!

While we're sharing various versions of the theme from Sabrina, this should be added to the mix...

Very cool. That's one I've long been hoping LLL would greatly expand. Whoever sequenced the original CD seemed to be trying for a Sleepless in Seattle-style crossover CD, including a lengthy party medley of standards while omitting much of Williams' score.

And three months with no new LLL releases has been painful. Welcome back!

Not as painful sitting through this movie when it came out....

I think this turned into more than just a preview, however. It was a very nice discussion. So to have a proper preview I'll just say that neither of the CDs in this release is the OST.

Saw it at a sneak preview that my family had to fight through a snowstorm to get to. Saw it several times in theaters and don't regret it.

SABRINA is available to rent on Amazon Prime (in the US) right now for 0.99 so you can catch up on the film before the release, the podcast, and the general debating.

There is a LOT of music in the film, more than you think.

The Legacy of John Williams podcast episode is up!

https://thelegacyofjohnwilliams.com/2023/04/28/sabrina-exclusive-first-listen/

The Legacy of John Williams is happy to host an exclusive preview of the first John Williams‘ archival soundtrack reissue of 2023, courtesy of La-La Land Records: a lavish 2-disc limited release of the Academy Award-nominated score composed by Maestro Williams for the 1995 romantic comedy Sabrina, directed by Sydney Pollack and starring Harrison Ford, Julia Ormond and Greg Kinnear. Assembled, mastered and produced by archival soundtrack specialist Mike Matessino, the new edition offers a wonderfully exhaustive presentation of John Williams’ lush romantic score, remastered from 1st-generation analog tapes and expanded with a great wealth of previously unreleased material, including many unused cues and several alternates.

Wonderful discussion, excellent tease of the new programs, and terrific sample tracks!

GREAT podcast. Can't wait to hear the new album. Amazed to discover the original album only had HALF the score Williams recorded for the picture, and that both discs in this case are chock full. The Mike Lang improvisation on one of the Williams themes from Disc 2 was incredible and very moving to me.
