McD, we have to agree to disagree on this one.

What seems blindingly obvious to me is that, since "Air Force One" (his last non-franchise blockbuster), he's made sixteen films. A couple were mild successes, two were big hits (yes, "Indy" and "Star Wars"), and the rest were box office disappointments (some of those were bombs). He cannot get a film made anymore just by signing on. If he's going to be the center of a big movie, it's probably going to have to be as Han or Indy or Deckard.

So things change. He's realistic. That doesn't mean he doesn't care. He's doing other movies, too. But these are the big "Harrison Ford" movies that Harrison Ford can keep doing.

(And I'm not sure what lawsuit you're referring to. If it's the one pertaining to his injury on "The Force Awakens," I'm pretty sure that suit was brought by the British Health and Safety Executive, and focuses on violations of their safety rules that allowed the accident to happen. That is, he's not suing, they are. But by the way, that was a very, very serious injury that only by sheer luck wasn't much, much worse. The suit is not exactly frivolous.)

Full Disclosure: I sat next to Harrison Ford for about an hour yesterday. Never discussed Indiana Jones (though I mentioned I'd seen it in the paper). He's a family man, a very decent guy, and if Disney wants him to grab the whip and play Indy again, what exactly is wrong with saying "sure"?

There´s no way that Ford will star in this alone or even as the main character.

Disney has not bought Indiana Jones for just one more movie. This one will set up an heir, and Chris Pratt is still very much in the running to take over as Indy´s "assistant".

Spielberg know this and will not disclose it until it´s time.

A couple things you're forgetting.

1.) Even if Indy isn't the focus of the movie (and I'd agree with that, I can see them doing for Indy what they did in Rambo 4) the idea that an assistant/secondary character taking over the mantle is silly. What, is this person going to stand in line at the Hall Of Records and change his name to Indiana Jones Jr? "Indiana Jones Junior And The Punchdoom Of DB Cooper's Treasure" ain't gonna sell shit in tickets. (

2.) By the time this film roles out in 2019, Chris Pratt likely won't be the golden boy is today. Someone else will be deeper in the running for the role. Sorta like the Idris Elba / 007 thing: yes, he's ready for it now, but by the time Daniel Craig is done, there will be people younger than either of them ready to try out for the role.

You don't know the state of this project. Lucasfilm has reportedly had an office for developing Indiana Jones ever since Disney bought them almost four years ago. To assume that Spielberg and Ford are jumping in without anything is a)presumptuous and b) inconsistent with their histories.

If Disney had a script everyone was happy with, this would be announced for 2017.

Ford confirmed to UK's BBC today there is no script. It's in developement, yes. It's gonna be great, yes. But these points were a given when the announcement was made.

He seems in good shape though.

I just wonder how this will work. It´s only a personal thing..myself ..I don't really like all those characters coming back as old men / women.Nothing against old characters and movie stars don't get me wrong..would be a ridiculous statement by me.!..But Harrison Ford , whom I think looks like an old granny now and his HAN SOLO appearance in THE FORCE AWAKENS and Carrie Fisher as LEIA etc... urggh.
THE CRYSTAL SKULL was close on the edge and it was ..for me ..a farewell. Not a good one but well..again opinion.
But they decided not to pass his hat on to his son ( Indy and a son...also urrgh..)..so who will swing his wip...who will jump the cliffs...etc?Harrison Ford????Or some totally new character..his daughter...a student of his?

Well...we will see...
I admit ...as I said earlier ..all those sequels like Star Wars 30 years later..I guess they are for the new generations ...so let Chris Pratt play the role of Indy...and let Harrison read his diary in front of the fireplace.

Is there ANYONE waking up in the morning and telling themselves:

"You know what I really need in life right now is another Indiana Jones movie."

And I am the BIGGEST Indy fan.

Let's move on and have someone create a homage to Indy films much like Lucas and Speilberg did back in the 1970s.

Pop culture has been stuck in pause since 1989.

I like INDY 4 more than most people (it gets a lot of undeserved rap), but ultimately I do think it needs a better film to 'go out on'. So yes, I'm all for another INDY film.

For me, INDY IV is the SPECTRE of Indy films. It needs another conclusion. And Ford still brings it.

I am ALL in for another adventure with Indy. I even really like The Crystal Skull. It isn't perfect, but I still enjoy it a ton.

I got the script for them. Indi sitting in a rocking chair reminiscing about all his adventures as they show clips from the previous films and television series. Did Indi ever hook up with that student in class? You know the girl with the "Love You" eye lids? Or for that matter the boy that gave him an apple? Don't want to leave anyone out.

If John Williams scores it, then I am in and will wake up every day asking for it.

This. I'm not even bothered about the film, at this point. I'll be pleasantly surprised if it's good, and it'd be nice if there were a better swan song for Ford as the character. But all I need to know is that Williams is writing one last Indy score, and I'm IN.
