If you like it, it's great my friend. Forget everybody else.
Thanks. I'm kinda an expert on that, as I often have minority opinions on stuff. So no worries.
At least I seem to be on the same page as most others on this particular score. A shame, really, because it's a Norwegian director, and I had kinda hoped he would get a better score for his first major, international project.

To be forthright, it's mostly this, Mad Max, and Batman vs Superman (I'm not too sure who to blame on the last) that I can't stand. His other work with Zimmer I thought was really good (didn't he help with Man of Steel, one of my favorite scores?).
I adore MAD MAX and the whole heavy metal approach. So gutsy, so visceral, so envelopping. But it also has moments of exquisite beauty. You didn't even like this track?
The disparaging remarks in this thread are so transparent, it's ridiculous. JXL is an absolutely brilliant composer. One of the best currently working.
LMFAO
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
That was awesome.
You're the best.

Didn't that kind of lame remarks basically put an end to any business of your label with HZ ?
#ouch
I'd also like to know what supporting evidence you have - you are either in some way associated with the hundreds of team Zim-mions, Hybrid, in reading your posts or completely obsessed. Zimmer seems a genial bloke, and not the big bad sourpuss you infer - I just re-read his going 2 rounds with Kendall & Bond in FSM print at the time of Peacemaker, remember that? My understanding was Zimmer is hands on and wants to be involved in his releases, and has been a tad busy with scores and tours. I'm sure this will get no response, or hint of your identity, much less disclosure, so, partyg on Wayne.....
Oh & JXL - I like him, love Mad Max because the film is so damn good, and wonder if mighty Thor claims Run All Night, Black Mass or 300 part 2 whatever it's called, are high art. I own all these, like them fine, but if I had to sacrifice music, they would vanish. Is any of this stuff going to hold up to Rozsa, Shire, Sarde, Barry, Tiomkin, Young, the Newman's, etc etc in the long run??

It does the job! I've heard a lot of stuff like this though, to be honest (too much since Dark Knight). I've even had to write in this vein for a trailer. A lot of the sound is more due to processing than composition...
but hey it apparently fit the movie, plus he's rich and I'm not so whadda I know?
Yeah, Tom wears his Barber on his sleeve (BRIMSTONE is another example), but I can't help but to be flabbergasted by the range in his music -- from this to the delicious electronica modulations in something like the gorgeous DISTANCE BETWEEN DREAMS.
I thought JXL's Deadpool was good (I for the most part appreciated the approach)... and Mad Max (around 70% of its score) was pretty good too... this though is just so mind numbly generic it's beyond me really, such painfully bad writing, especially the action material which is an insult to ones ears.
Junkie seriously needs to consider going cold turkey after this (his ruining of BvS was already bad enough). Eek!
Anyone who has even the slighest interest in and knowledge about electronic music or JXL's career, also pre-film music, will understand how great he is in that idiom. And why a score such as DISTANCE BETWEEN DREAMS is so good. I wish he did more of that, and less of the big blockbusters and actions like TOMB RAIDER. This track is so goosebump-inducing and beautiful, it's ridiculous:
