At last!! It's been around 10 years, possibly more, since Silva were first handed the tracks for a possible CD. Maybe they have finally realised that nothing else of better quality will materialise. For me, this was one of Barry's best scores of this period (even the source music was pleasure to listen to). I don't propose to check back (I did a revised Music Cue Sheet for this film in October last year) but I think this might include everything. The Wilma Reading single - issued on her label Pye in 1974 - was arranged by her regular arranger Barrie Guard and the arrangement is completely different to the movie version. Despite it being very nice it never charted and have previously been released on CD. I already have 2 or three versions of the tracks from this score but I will still buy the CD as I like to have everything on CD if possible, rather than a digital file - I understand Silva are making it available in both formats. It's certainly live on their website right now - I always their releases direct from themselves as I prefer to support them! Stereo or mono - who cares? This CD will use the best sources that have survived and that's all that matters. Full marks to Silva - well let's say 8/10 bearing in mind the 10 year delay!

Alistair, Don't get caught out. Despite the fact that MB and SAE list these releases first doesn't mean you will get it any quicker. Yes, MB changed their policy when Brexit came in - they didn't, or couldn't be bothered, to change their system; so to avoid any issues their end you have to order over a certain amount - this amount is actually the amount that triggers VAT and customs duty here. Since the beginning of the year I've been ordering through SAE and not paid a penny (making sure I keep the cost below the £150 limit which customs now have). So Brexit has actually helped us soundtrack buyers. Two years back I had to stop buying from SAE as the postage plus duty was too much. Now I can just pay the postage and find it cheaper to buy from them than MB anyway.

No stereo = No sale This bullshit needs to stop on this board. It's a pathetic and tired joke. That post in particular is embarrassing and just ignorant. Same moron was the first post on GBU quartet announcement... Posted: Dec 8, 2020 - 11:37 AM By: AdoKrycha007 (Member) In mono ?! No, thanks.

Stereo or mono - who cares? Well, I care, but I'm never going to let the fact something is only available in mono get in the way of buying it and enjoying it. Cheers

I admit I have never seen the film, though I love spy thrillers and Blake Edwards. And so I have been satisfied with the earlier Silva covers. But intrigued and pleased that this is being released. Watching the title sequence, I'm kind of dumbfounded. Even if I had seen this in '74, I would have immediately thought 007! It's kind of ridiculous that it is so slavishly the same idiom, though I guess sort of translated to an "adult" romantic spy story. Julie Andrews IS James Bond?! Jeesh.

No stereo = No sale Rain Man is a proof, that if label really wants, they can find stereo mixes. Mono & digital downloads = No sale. There's a lot of scores I would love to buy, but there are in mono-only, so... sorry !

No stereo = No sale Rain Man is a proof, that if label really wants, they can find stereo mixes. Mono & digital downloads = No sale. There's a lot of scores I would love to buy, but there are in mono-only, so... sorry ! It's a pity because whilst we would all prefer pristine sounding stereo on everything, the fact of the matter is that a lot of classic film music only exists in mono today. If I adopted a policy of no stereo, no sale, I would be denied a great deal of music I have wanted for years. I couldn't have that. In fact, I'll take a very clear sounding mono copy over a muddy sounding stereo copy any day. However, it is a personal choice. Either way, I'm sure Silva Screen won't be losing any sleep over it. Cheers

Any music release in Mono is perfectly fine with me and always has been. I'm so happy to be able to purchase The Tamarind Seed, thanks Silva Screen.

Julie Andrews IS James Bond?! Jeesh. Having seen the film several times ... I can assure you that this is far off the mark. Yes, the titles are by Maurice Binder; yes, the score is by John Barry ... and there the similarities end. Had you suggested Julie Andrews IS Lois Maxwell/Miss Moneypenny you'd have been an inch closer but still miles away. Actually, I've seen enough bits of the movie on tv to know what you say is true. I'm just remarking on the titles, using an iconic design apparently un-ironically to seemingly signal a Bond-like experience. It was a silly choice, whatever the movie's merits.
