Glad you managed to get one, Mutant! It’s sad that it apparently sold poorly enough for Varese that they had to discount it to sell out… I guess the “comedy curse” strikes again? (I remember LLL saying for years Clue was a super requested Paramount title… and then it sold only a few hundred copies upon release.)

It was actually your Burbs Podcast that prompted me to get it. Hearing those clips again reminded me how much I actually really enjoyed that score.

Looney Tunes 'Spotlights' starting at 1:24:50

Just for posterity's sake, should anyone dig this thread up years down the road and want one, we have this podcast, my friends Clark, Jens, Yavar and I, and in 2020 we started trying to cover any new Jerry Goldsmith release, which, for the previous four years, had ranged from 6-8 a year. That was a big add to the show, but we would manage.

Yeah.

Jump ahead 2-3 months: in the 365 days from December 1, 2020 to November 30, 2021 16 Goldsmith CDs came out, totaling 20 different film scores, three of which were 100% premiers! Our own plan clobbered us, and even though our proper episodes all but vanished, we still missed Looney Tunes and a great re-release of Masada.

So this is kind of the Looney Tunes Spotlight, around 20 minutes of it, nestled in with The 'Burbs because we had four people who were at the Looney Tunes scoring sessions as guests on this show, and they were good sports about switching gears.

The great team for this talk: for both films, director Joe Dante, editor Marshall Harvey, and recording engineer and mixer Bruce Botnick, who was also the album producer for Looney Tunes, and for The 'Burbs, its album co-producer Neil S. Bulk, and album art designer Dan Goldwasser, our fourth Looney Tunes sessions witness.

I like the score very much. Was one of ten Goldsmith-Scores I've bought last year. What a pity, that his last two scores had been composed for box-office bombs. Neverheless I like Nemesis and Looney Tunes and Goldsmith has a big share of it. Of Nemesis in particular.
