Only about a week away from new episodes and still no word on the composer, though a music editor has been added to the new episodes and its the same guy who worked for Tyng on previous seasons.

The first new episode is available today for subscribers.

According to IMDb credit, Tyng has returned as composer.

SEASON 11:

NOTE: At this time I just can't justify providing links to episode loads when Hulu are just begun. It's seems horribly wrong to do and undercuts Hulu who gave us this new season. I'll probably wait a year or so, but in the meantime I want to comment on the new episodes and will still cite highlight times for future link providing (or if you have Hulu and are watching it there).

"The Impossible Stream"
NO LINK AT THIS TIME.

Highlights:
  • 0:00 in.^
  • 1:57 in.^
  • 9:00 in.^
  • 18:54 in.^
  • 19:58 in.^

The adorable owl infestation continues, like I hoped it would. It ads nothing what so ever, but I still love it.

Continuity Error: The fake TV show "The Scary Mirror" was called "The Scary Door" in the original runs of the show.

Thought: If many old things from Earth long ago destroyed multiple times can still exist (like Walgreens), then why call Hulu Fulu? Why not have make it Hulu?

So, thoughts on the premiere of the new season after a so many years...
This episode does everything it probably should have done: it picks up where the last episode left off, to give us an explanation for how its back, gives us the characters we love totally in character and not changed. The plot works, the execution works, and it hits lal the appropriate marks. This is just like one of the good episodes from the last years of the show (which didn't have very many good episodes!).

As for the score by Christopher Tyng, while not a return to the glorious hay day of orchestral excitement from the earlier seasons, it's like the last few with some obvious orchestral sample work and what sounds like (maybe I am wrong) some orchestra here and there. Maybe with this return, we'll get a score release of the new season at some point and perhaps that will spur a release from prior seasons.

As long as most of the new episodes are as good as this, I think it was worth bringing it back. I do dread the next episode though, based on the title...

Hermes: "It feels like we got rebooted."

Zoidberg: "Hurray! I'm sharing backwash with friends!"

    Bender: "We're back, baby!"

Professor Farnsworth: "What about Fulu? They'll bring back any old crap!"

Bender: "Any idiot can be a TV writer."
    Calculon: "Many are."

Bender: "Somebody other than me do something!"

    Continuing SEASON 11:

I had previously noted I was dreading this episode based upon the episode title, but either the entire run has been re-ordered, or the listing I got was never in the right order to begin with, so this is not the episode I was dreading.

    "Children of a Lesser Bog"

    Highlights:
  • 3:36 in.^
  • 5:25 in.
  • 13:49/13:57 in. The first cue sounds like something for a Harry Potter video game.^
  • 17:47 in.^
  • 19:05/19:25/20:16/20:35 in. Music to kill "bears" by.^
  • 22:59 in.^
  • 23:28 in.^

So, in regards to the plot: It's nice to see all kinds of continuity here and not just skipping over the events seasons ago in an episode. However, having said that, I dread having a show with three extra kid characters I don't care about.. But having said that about this follow-up episode, it's very standard and doesn't have any re-watch value.

Because of P.C. bullshit, Amy's father is no longer voiced by Billy West, and it shows. The new voice actor: Feodor Chin.

I won't give it away, but Zoidberg's character sinks to a new low for food...

And I like the arrogant animal-hating biologist -- glad to see him again. I imagine his next office will have a print out of the angry kitten meme: I HATE EVYERTHING.

    (Note to Me: 6:19, 22:01)

    Bender: "You do you, weirdo!"

    Bender: "Life is disgusting."

Bender: "OH yeah, educate me, baby..."

    Scruffy: "Scruffy's stuff gets around..."

    Continuing SEASON 11:

    "How The West Was 1010001"

    Highlights:
  • 2:!6 in. Western music.^
  • 3:32 in.^
  • 4:02 in.^
  • 16:35 in.^
  • 19:30 in.
  • 20:04 in.^
  • 23:25 in.

This episode score is made up of a lot of short western cues.

Another standard episode, that I feel has little to no re-watch value.

Again, its like the writers don't remember this show takes place over a thousand years in the future, on Earth that was destroyed and rebuilt at least twice. Yes, Bitcoin is still a thing. And Yelp.

    I'm surprised Bender isn't 40% Thallium.

Possible Continuity Error: Where's Bender's plug port in the bottom of the ass? I say "possible" continuity error, because he's been destroyed and rebuilt like two to four times over the run of the show, so it's possible last time he was rebuilt, that wasn't put back in. Too much trouble to go back and see if he had it last re-build.

Plot Hole: Why does Hermes need his son to limbo him out? Hermes can limbo by himself.

You know, this episode had me thinking some more: The return in-'verse doesn't make any sense. So, in universe the characters were gone for twenty years and returned. So, many questions arise: How is the Planet Express building still there? How did it not get shut down to failure to pay bills? How did Planet Express not go bankrupt in twenty years? How is Scruffy not twenty years older? How is the Farnsworth not further into debt with twenty years of interest? How did the robot mafia wait twenty years for him to come back and then collect the debt and not mention its been twenty years? And more.

    (NtM: 10:49, 11:06, 13:59, 15:00, 18:19)

Leela: "Haven't you learned that Bitcoin is just a pyramid scheme for rubes?"
Professor: "Yes, and my plan is to exploit those rubes."

Bender: "Oh, you said 'shovels'? I thought you said take a break and do nothing."

Roberto: "This gun violence has to end! Can't we all just agree to use knives?"

Donbot: "If we ever get out of here, I'm going to give this brothel a really bad Yelp review."

    Continuing SEASON 11:

    "Parasites Regained"

    Highlights:
  • 4:50 in.^
  • 5:25 in.^
  • 6:35 in.^
  • 12:00/12:23/12:52 in.^
  • 20:20 in.^
  • 22:28 in.^
  • 23:09 in. And the closing cue that follows after a few seconds.^

Boring episode with almost no re-watch value, that feels like filler that I wasted my time on.

Wait ... since when does Nibbler commit casual murder of human beings???

Nibbler is chewing on a Bart Simpson dog toy.

    (NtM: 7:20)

Zoidberg: "I'm feeding on worm juice with friends!"

    Continuing SEASON 11:

    "Related To Items You've Viewed"

    Highlights:
  • 7:02 in.^
  • 9:22 in. Shopping music.^
  • 16:03 in.^
  • 20:00 in.^

A decent episode. Second in line behind the first one, with some re-watch value, though still wish it had been more.

Continuity: They remembered this time! Yes, the tiny closer is Bender's room. Now if only they could start getting right that Bender was fully assembled in adult form and programming installed at the factory, that he was never a baby bot.

Continuity: The writers remembered that Fry secretly likes some kink, but Leela doesn't, and he has to quickly hide it.

You know what would have been a perfect line and totally in character for Hermes? If after Bender said, "You wanna know why I'm crying?", Hermes says -- voice buried some under the crying -- "No.".

    (NtM: 3:51, 8:00, 10:35, 13:01, 13:59, 14:25, 23:15)

CinemaSins voice: "That Moon sheriff would be perfect at CinemaSins!"

Moon Head Guy: "Why don't you go to Hell and be a part of that community!"

    Bender: "Wow, robots -- cool."

Professor Farnsworth: "Slap recognized..." (best line in the episode and totally not seen coming)

Bender: "Are you guys here yet? I could really use some recuing."

    Professor Farnsworth: "Sweet vampire Moses!"

    Continuing SEASON 11:

"I Know What You Did Last Xmas"

    Highlights:
  • 0:38 in.^
  • 2:38 in.^
  • 8:47 in.
  • 13:39 in.^

With no orchestra, the score just doesn't have what the first few Christmas episode scores had.

Another episode with some re-watch value.

Plothole: If the Professor in a prior season wouldn't trust Zoidberg by himself around his ship in a bottle, how would he trust Zoidberg (and Bender!) to be alone with the time machine???

Plothole: After Bender's laughing, then selfless act to rescue Fry's dog in the pit in the subbasement seasons ago, why wouldn't it occur to him to dump Santa there?

    Zoidberg: "So Bender--"
    Bender: "Nope."

    Continuing SEASON 11:

    "Rage Against The Vaccine"

    Highlights:
  • 1:42 in.^
  • 2:34 in.
  • 3:59 in.^
  • 5:57 in.^
  • 11:51 in.
  • 12:44 in.^
  • 16:37 in.^
  • 17:32 in. Space battle music. Buried under FX.
  • 18:44 in.
  • 22:19 in.^
  • 23:20 in.

What an awful disjointed episode. It was what I thought it would be and worse. IT's full of mean-spirited un-funny jabs, lame humor, wasted character call backs, and stupid shit. No re-watch value whatsoever. This belongs in the pile of shit episodes I have said prior should be de-canonized. This is Bat-nipples/Bat credit card/Bat cod piece and Jar Jar Binks apology territory here.

Continuity: The Mayor says it's the year 3023.
The third season it was 3002.
    Season five: 3004.
    Season nine: 3012.
And I said earlier in the thread that wen the show comes back, it would be 3024-ish in-universe, so they at least got it right.

Continuity: The "Angry dome" is back. But ... Continuity Error: How is Leela trapped in it? If the Professor can let himself in and then back out, that means she should be able to let herself out, too. Why would an Angry Dome even have an outside locking device?

Continuity Error(?): A few short seasons ago, wasn't it all changed and mutants can now live up above with the regular humans? That's what I recall. So, what travel ban on mutants from the sewers?

    Continuing SEASON 11:

    "Zapp Gets Cancelled"

    Highlights:
  • 0:37 in.^
  • 1:40 in.^
  • 5:46 in.^
  • 9:27/9:43 in.^
  • 12:42 in.^
  • 23:03 in.^

I have a feeling the Doop leader's speech to Leela about whether the air people are likable, is made up of real comments in the writer's room at four in the morning after stale pizza, tons of coffee, and so much vaping that the farts smell like it.

I wanted to like this episode, especially since it had so much potential, but the whole thing feels like a half-assed mis-fire. Every time something of potential good comes up, it's totally squandered. I can't imagine watching it again.

Continuity Issue: Why is Leela impressed with how big the Nimbus is? She's seen it multiple times before. They were even chased by it.

    (Note to Me: 15:%7)

Fire Alien: "Sign this certificate of defeat so I can show my mom."

Bender: "You've really hit rock top."

    Leela: "Who is it? Poop?"

    Fry: "I've heard of air."

    Finishing SEASON 11:

    "The Prince and the Product"

    Highlights:
  • 0:50 in.^
  • 1:46 in.^
  • 2:00 in.^
  • 5:15 in.
  • 5:44 in.^
  • 8:25 in.
  • 12:17 in.^
  • 13:38 in.
  • 16:01/16:56 in.^
  • 19:05 in.
  • 21:50 in.

A number of cues kind of reminded me of the early 1990's Elfman sound. It's a shame areal orchestra wasn't used.

A well-meaning episode trying to ape an older episode, but ultimate failing to recapture the magic. And then its sandwiched with the awful writing and subplot of Leela and the Prince. I can't imagine watching this again.

    (NtM: 2:15, 18:46, 23:58)

Hermes: "Are you sure, Doctor Zoidberg? I mean, you're usually wrong."

Bender: "Metaphor? Isn't that just a fancy word for steaming load?"

"All the Way Down" (season finale)

    Highlights:
  • 3:13 in.^
  • 10:35 in.
  • 18:50 in.
  • 19:11 in.

I'm not sure what they were aiming for with this episode as it just kind of went everywhere from the initial concept, then had no real ending and even implied the prime universe wasn't real. I don't feel there's any point in re-watching this episode.

I think this is the first time we've seen the bathroom in Planet Express.

Bender: "Bite my shiny metal pixel."

And that is that for the new season on Hulu. As I write this, no announcement has been made on season twelve.

I was hoping for more from this new season. I pondered why we even needed a new one, given how the show ended, but you know, once its already in production ad then being dumped by Hulu online, there's no point in pondering, just acceptance. In the end most of the episodes are boring to bad. The end result was a season that had it been cancelled back in the day, I'd have accepted more easily.

    New season drops July 29th.

The upcoming installment finds the occasionally heroic crew embarking on “mind-bending adventures involving birthday party games to the death, the secrets of Bender’s ancestral robot village, A.I. friends (and enemies), impossibly cute beanbags, and the true 5-million-year-old story behind the consciousness-altering substance known as coffee,” per the official synopsis.?
